HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 98-257 N.C.S. 12/07/1998 Resolution No. 58-257 N.C.S. of the City of Petaluma, California i RESOLUTION AiJTfiORIZING APPROVAL 2 OF POLICE OFFICER TO BE ASSIGNED 3 TO THE SONOMA COUNTY AUTO THEFT TASK FORCE a s 6 WHEREAS, the Petaluma City Council recognizes the importance of combating ~ the quickly rising trend of Auto Theft that plagues Sonoma County; and 8 9 WHEREAS, the Petaluma City Council understands that participation in a multi- lo agency Task Force is an appropriate approach to a crime problem that transcends t t jurisdictional boundaries; and 12 t3 WHEREAS, the Petaluma City Council desires to participate in amulti-agency to Task Force project designated as the Sonoma County Auto Theft Task Force to be funded 15 from funds made available by the Sonoma County District Attorney's Oft7ce and from 16 Federal Universal Hiring Program (COPS). t7 is WHEREAS, that the Chief of Police of the Petaluma Police Department is t9 authorized, on its behalf to receive funding assistance from the Sonoma County District 20 Attorney's Office and the Federal Universal Hiring Program (COPS) and is authorized to 2t enter into a memorandum of understanding governing the assignment of one (t) full time z2 Petaluma Police Officer to the Sonoma County Auto Theft Task Force. 23 24 NOW, THEREFORE BE TT RESOLVED, the Chief of Police understands that, zs due to current staffing constraints, a Police Officer will not be provided until that time that 26 an additional Officer can be hired and trained so as to replenish the staffing void created 27 by this appointment.
