Request for repairs to City Dumps road: Mr. Gray of the E. B. Stone Company appeared before the Council requesting that the lower half of the road leading to the city dumps be repaired. He stated. that his company and the garbage company would furnish the teams and men for the work:,, providing the city would furnish the rock. The matter was referred to the Garbage' Committee•, City Engineer, and Supt. of Streets. UNFINISHED BUSI.NES'S.:, h e - repair of railway crossing City Attorney Brooks reported having received a communication from E.H. Maggard, P,resid'ent• of the Rorthwestern Pacific 'Railroad C stating that the matter of _improv the crossing at the corner. of East D and Hopper Sts. had been referred. to �`Vm. H. Neff for immediate attention The Supt, of Streets reported that to date no work had been done on the crossing. Christmas festoons:. Councilman Penry.reporte.d that he had investigated th'e cost of taking down the Chr.stma :s festoons and had learned from electricians that the coiling of the streamers would be injurious to the sockets and he had therefore decided.that it would be more practical - to keep the festoons in place permanently. 'Councilman G`er#asOnl' was asked to investigate the possibilit of placing a needed light on Keokuk Street near Magnolia Avenue. Map of Major City Streets submitted: .Councilman Penry, Chairman of the Street Committee, submitted three copies of a map.,�,indi cat ing the major city streets" and on motion by Councilman Deiss, se ; •cond:ed by Cou.ricilman Penry, the map 'was ,adopted and ordered f orwarded. to the State Highway Division for approval. Motion carried and so ordered. The Committee investigating the building of a cabin for the: tender of the Washington St. bridge was granted further time. The matter of capacity signs on'the bridge_ was referred to the Supt of Streets. Linda Vista storm drain.: The responsibility of repairing a drain .r-Linda, Vista Subdivision was discussed at length,. Councilman Penry r•e,porting 'that no record of any former action by the City in building- or maintaining this drain could be found by the Clerk The matter was l.-7 on the table until the next regular meeting, the City Clerk to review the records pertaining to the matter. Councilman, Myer. s reported that ,th.e Zoning:-:C,dmrnitt.ee had,• met with the City Attorney and revieu_q,,the map presented by the' City / Engineer and that the committee would meet again -soon for further work on the map. Councilman Penry reported that stop signs recently ordered had been placed in position at the intersections of Sixth and D`* ;, Street and Sixth and Mt. View Avenue.
