Plans and specifications for the improvement of Thompson Creek
were submitted and filed by the City Engineer.

approving the copy of the lease of Kenilworth Park sent them by the City
Attorney- and asking that the lease be. brought into effect within a
reasonable period of time, was read, filed, and the matter laid on the
table until the next regular meeting of the Council.

authorized by the Cavanagh family to act as their attorney in conjunction
with Mr. Moony -.y to secure complete satisfaction of the final and existing
judgment: against the City of Petaluma., read, filed, and the matter
referred to the City Attorney

concrete drain tube along the bed of said Thompson Creek from the inter -
section thereof with the East s..de of "G "' Street south of seventh Street
to 'thee intersection of said Thompson Creek with the south side of Sixth.

the purchase by the City of 'Petaluma of•cer'tain materials required in
said improvement work which said Works Progress Administration requires
to be purchased by said City; adopting the 'plan of-said improvement` work
and the - speciti;cations for materials to be furnished by the City thi.erdbr,
prepared by the City Engineer and filed with the City Clerk; and appro.praa-
ting the sum of not to exceed k. , 000.00 for use in the purchase of said

ADOPTION OF' O RDINANCES : -

"An ordinance to license and regulate certain business, hereafter specified
transacted or carried on within the corporate limits of the City of
Petaluma, California, fixing the rate of license tax upon the same and
providing for the collection of said license tax, and punishment for
carrying on such business:witho_ut a license, and for violating the
provisions hereof, and repealing -all other ordinances -and parts of
ordinances in conflict herewith" by adding thereto sections 51a and 51b.,,
imposing a license upon painting contractors., ---- which ordinance
was repib in the offic °ial newspaper of the City of Petaluma on
August 18th;, ] X36, be.cpuse of a typographical error in the original
publication, came.. up regularly, and was. adopted by 5 affirmative'votes,.

NEW BUSINESS
rd St.. widening:
A discussion was had of 'the adviseEkbili,ty of commencing
the work of widening Third Street. It being the consensus of
opinion that the work should, be.completed before, the rainy season,

authorizing and directing th.e.City.Engineer to proceed with the
improvement work provided for under Ordinance No. 449 C. - S. and
complete. the same t „ o the North line of "C'' Street., adopted by 5
affirmative votes 2 absentees.
Repairs to, wharf at end of "B” . Street :,
Councilman Penry reported that the wharf at the end of.
"B" Street is in need of re : planking..and according to the estimate
of the City E ng zneer the materials for said work could be purchased
for 'less than $200.00. He recommended that the work be done ixhTer
the direction of the Superintendent of Streets, whereupon

introduced by Councilman Penry, seconded, by Councilman Peters,,
directing the Superintendent of, Streets to complete all nece s °sary
repair work on the public_ -wharf at the :end of "B" Street and purr
chase'all necessary materials.therefor, not to exceed the sum of
$20,0.00', to be paid out of the River and. Harbor Fund, . adopted by
5 affirmative votes,. 2 absentees
Repa °irs to wharf at end of Bayliss Street:
Councilman Penry - alsore,ported that there is a need for
six new piles and caps at the end of Bayliss Street, Whereupon

directing the Supt. of Streets.to replace six piles with caps
in the public wharf at the end of Bayliss Street and directing the
Supt. • of Streets- to. purchase, said .piles. and cause same to be driven
at a total charge, not to exceed $200.00 to be paid out of the Rive
and Harbor Fund, adopted by 5 affirmative votes, '2 absentees..

Mayor Woodson directed the City Engineer to proceed with
the plans and speci fleations f or th4 improvemel'It 'of - Linda Vista
Subdivision as 'a WPA project and to have the necessary information
in the hands of the City Attorney as soon as, poss3b.1e.

O,ouncilman 'Penry recommended that four School. Slow.". signs
be placed at the intersection, of° B' and 5.th Streets, whereupon

introduced by Gou.nc lman Ge'rvasoni, seconded by Councilman Deiss,
directing the .Chief, of Police to cause regulation traffic signs
bearing the words "School -Slow" to be placed on each of the four
corner- s .at the intersection of B and Fifth Streets,, and . further
directing' the Chief of Police to cause a regulation reflector
type 11 ',Stop" sign to be constructed at the intersection of Park,
Avenue and Bodega Avenue, adopted by 5 affirmative votes, 2-absentees.
Continuation of Thompson Creek 'Tmpv. as WPA .pro. ec;t:
The. City Engineer, was, dire * c'ted *to .prepare plans and
specifications for the continuation. -of the improvement of
Thompson Creek from -6th St. to ,5th St., the same to be submitted
as• a WPA project.
Broadcasting p,ermi t
Mr. M. G. Acorne address °ed. the Council asking permission
to use a 'loud- speaking or broadcasting device at certain public
functions, whereupon.

ranting Mr. Acorne permission to broadcast at the Elks Carnival
ctober 9th and 10th, and for the football games to be held a "t the
playing field 'of the Petaluma High School during the season of

of 1936; adopted by 5 affirmative votes, 2 absentees.
Mr. acorne, also addressed the Council inviting the members
and City Officials to be. the guests of the American Legion at "Army
Night" on September 23rd
Mr. Acorne, as Chairman of the Post Community Betteiment
Commit -tee of the American Legion, gave a very interesting talk of the
plan of his committee to sponsor the development of McNear Park as a
recreational center. He stated that they hoped t.o- rase funds with
which to erect an attractive wire fence around the park, plant shrubs
-and lawns, builW.additional tennis courts, provide more playground
equipment, erect a new grandstand and bleachers and improve the ball
diamond,
Mayor Woodson thanked Mr. Acorne for the information he had
conveyed and for his invitation to the City Council to attend Army Night..
