Regular meeting of the Council of the `City of Petaluma calked to
order by Mayor Woodson.
ROLL CALL:
Pr.esen.t Counc Deiss, Gervasoni, Ingerson, Myers, Penry, and
Mayor Woodson.
Absent,: Councilman Peters.
READING: OF THE * JOURN
The m nute_s of the last regular meeting of March 1, 1937, were
read and, approved 'as* recorded.
REPORT'S OF OFF ICERS:
The. monthly report of the Librarian was read and filed.
REPORTS OF STANDING COTI
The Finance Commit submitted its report, whereupon
Resolution #4599 C.'S.
introduced by Councilman Gervasoni, s,econde-d.'by Councilman Deiss, directing
the Auditor to-- draw.warrants (Nos.. 2134 to 2237 inclusive) against the
various City Funds,..in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance
Committee, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.
PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS:
Re; - emergency indigent cases .,at Pet. Gen. Hospital:
Petition of Wm. Millmeister, owner.and manager of the Petaluma
General Hospital, asking that the City of Petaluma create an emergency
fund for the defraying of'the,expenses incurred by the Petaluma General
Hospital in rendering service to emergency° accident cases for in
and giving notice that in the :event that the Council does not zee fit to
grant such a .fund,, then. the said Petaluma, General Hospital serves notice
that no emergency accident castes., or otherwise will be accepted in said
hospital unles;,s said person or persons.shall have means or funds with
which to make a satisfactory deposit on account of . the services to be
rendered, read and filed..
The matter was later brought up under the head of New Business
and Attorney Chas. McGoldrick,,representng the Petaluma General Hospital,
addressed.the Council, outlining the problem which confronts the hospital
in indigent cases, and he asked that the Council give the matter its
earnest consideration.
The subject was taken under advisement until the next meeting
of the Council.
NEW BUSINESS
Filing of application for, continuation of the Thompson Creek tube:
Mayor Woodson reported having filed an application for the
continuation of the WPA project for-the construction of the drainage tube
along Thompson Creek, from 6th Street.-to 5th..Stre.et, and stated that.the
cost of the second unit to the City would be approximately $4,134, and the
cost to'the Federal Government would be approximately $8399.00
In this connection the City Engineer was asked to interview each
of the property owner's.along the contemplated improvement and where
necessary secure rights of way or easements.
Re - recreational projects of Federal Govn.
Mr. Schneider of the Federal Administration, addressed
the Council regarding the instituting of recreational projects in this city
The Council was asked to give consideration to the quest -ion of. such 'proj'ects
in this City..
Councilman Penry, Myers, and Gervasoni, were appointed a committee
to prepare a resolution of condolence to the relatives of the'late ex-
Mayor William 'Veale .
Mayor Woodson re- ported that he had been visited by.Mlajor Frank
:L. Burnes, commanding officer of the 30th Infantry, who stated than they
are planning a� excursion here with some 1500 men, coinraencing June lst
and 2nd, marching from the Presidio, across Golden Gate Bridge, and
camping at Kenilworth Park. The matter was referred to the Park
Commission to make necessary arrangements at Kenilworth. Park.

Councilman De.i,ss extended an invitat.ion.,from the Herman
Sons Lodge to the City Council and other offic to be pres,6nt
at their meeting to beheld Saturday even-in-,.Yarch 20th,, at which

Mayor Woodson reported that Mr. Gillespie of'the 'State
Board of Health and Mr. Jenks are to meet in I*.. Rqger' ts office
