ROLL CALL Preisent: Councilmen Deiss, Gervasoni,'Ingerson., Penry, Peters, and Mayor' Woodson. Abs.en.t!c Councilman Myers. Awarding of contracts Third St. Widening;: Reso lution 44678.C. introduced by C-ountilman Gervas:oni, seconded by Councilman Penry, . awarding c�ontract,s for the .supplying o.f mater `als necessary for the improvement of Third Street t.o G -. P. McNear Company, A. F. Tomasini Hdwe. Co:, California Corrugated Culvert Co., Hein Bros. Basalt Co.,. L. Lorentzen, at the prices named. in their respective bids; directing the City Clerk to return all of the certified checks of the bidders for said materials who were:not awarded contracts by this resolution. and to return the certified checks .of th,e- .above successful bidders when the materials reauired under said bids and all thereof are delivered to and received by the city, adopted,by 6.affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Re -, purchase of two 750 gallon fire ; pumping engines:- the matter of ,awarding the contract for the furnishing of two 7.50 fire pumping engines was brought up and the Clerk read a - resolttio-n, - introduced by Councilman Gervasoni, seconded by Council man Pen.ry, accepting the recommendation of _the, Fire Commission' of this city tha °t. the b.id of American La France and Fbam t,e= Industri`es, Inc: be accepted as the lowest r-espons >ible bid, and further directing the Mayor to sign and execute. a contract on behalf of the Ci °ty of Petaluma.for the purchase of said two 750 gallon fire pumpin -g engines from the American La France and Foamite Industries, Inc. Following the reading of the resolution a discuss'.ion was had regarding the matter, Councilman Deiss stating that he would like more time to decide the matter and that he was not satisfied. that the bid of the American La France -& Foamite-.Industries, Inc. was the lowest responsible bid. Members of the Board of Fire Commission expressed their opinion that the American La Franceeengines have proven entirely sat.isfactory in the past; that the firemen are accustomed to .handling the La France engines; and that they bel'iev'e the La France engines fully, meet needs of the department. Following a further d,scussi.on the roll was called on 'the resolution with the 'fo`llourrig result Ayes Councilmen Gervas Penry -, and - Mayor Woodson. N'oe:s: Councilmen Deiss. Ingerson, and Peters.' Absent:' Counei.lman Myers. 'Whereupon. Mayor Woodson declared the -on, lost:.
