Special meeting of the Council of the City_. .of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor Woodson.
.ROLL. CALL;:�
Present: Councilmen Deiss', Gervasoni; Ingerson, Myers, Penry,
Peters, and Mayor Woodson;
READING OF THE CALL:
° The C.IeF read the notice of Special Meeting, the certificate
mailing annexed thereto, and the consent of the members of the City
Council to the holding of said Special Meeting.
The Call stated that, the m.ee.ting, was
1. To receive the Mayorls re port of
Mardis, - Police Judge of the City of Petaluma,
neglect; of duty and other official misconduct.
2.-.To appoint some qualified person
by said suspension..
for the following purposes:
having suspended Frank
for defalcation, willful
to fill the vacancy created
3.` To consider any further matters or take any further action
in connection with said suspension,.
The Clerk read the 'Mayor's report of ,suspension of Frank Mardis.,
Police Judge; the report of D. F. Begley, Public Accountant and Auditor,,
which showed.a shortage in the accounts of the Police Judge in the amount
of $121.79, that the.records of the office were inadequate, incomplete,
And very poorly kept,, and that of 847 traffic violation tags issued
during the six.months period from July 1 to December 31, 1937, only 78
,fines had been imposed.
The Clerk al o read the following Notice of Suspension:

Dear Mr. Mardis:
Notice of Suspension:
You are hereby notified that pursuant
t'o the power and authority vested in and the duty .imposed
upon me by Section 5 of Article. 5 of the City Charter of
this City,, I hereby suspend you from your office as Police
Judge of this City, by reason of certain' defalcations,, will-
ful neglect of duty, ,and -other official misconduct by; and
on. your part_ as an officer of the City, which has come ,to
my knowledge.
This order and notice of suspension shall
become effective 'at the hour of 6:00 otclock P.M. on Tuesday,
the 2nd day of "February, 1938.
You are further ordered to deliver to the
City Clerk of this City all official books and. records held
by you or in your pos °sess'ion or under your control.

The Clerk reported that applications from the following
,persons had been filed for the positi,on of Police Judge:
R. Allan Eariy,
George L. Bartle,
J. Hall Lewis
R. 'M. Conley,
D. G. Neil.
Mayor Woods +on reported that D. L. Be the Accountant .
who had audited the books of the City of Petaluma, was present and would
assist - the members of the City Council in re.vi the books of the
Pol'i,ce Judge .
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the meeting
the meeting was declared adjourned,.
