READING OF THE , JOURNAL:: The m nu es of the last regular meeting of February 7th were read arid- approved as: recorded. REPORTS OF - STANDING COMMITTEES: The Finance Comm ee submitt'ed 'its report, whereupon Resolution #4760 C.S introduced'by Councilman Gervasoni, seconded.by Counc -ilman Peters, directing' the Auditor to draw warrants (Nos. 2217 to 2285 inclusive) against the various City Funds, in payment ;of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. PETITIONS° AND - COMMUNI.CATI:ONS,: App ica ion from Clarence Smith for the position of operator. - of` the Sewage .Disposal, 'Plant, read and filed. Communication from.the Petaluma. Box Corp. asking that the City take over the care of the half block on 2nd Street, below .H Street and keep it in fair, pas•sab.le condition, read,, filed, and referred to the . Street%-Cbmmittee and Super intendei%t'.'of Streets for investigation. 'Comm from Brainerd Jones,, Architect on the Petaluma Fire Station asking appr=oval. of certain minor changes from the approved drawings and s'pecificati,ons, read,, and filed, 'and Re 'solution #4761 C.S. introduced by Councilman Gervasoni, seconded by Councilman Myers, auth certain changes�in the approved drawings and specifications of a;aid Petaluma Fire 'Station as set forth in said resolution, adopted by 7 'affirm ative votes. Allan Earl yPolice Judge, issued by the Fidelity & Casualty Co. of New • York, under date of February 8, 1938, and directing the City Clerk to �rec.ord said bond, adopted by 7 affirmative. votes. - The City Attorney was granted fuirther time to secure a right of way from Mr.: Thomas Maclay for the .continuation of F Street, from First Street t.o Petaluma River-, necessary for the continuation of the Thompson Creek drai,hage tube. Mayor 'Woodson brought up the matter of submitting to the WPA, j .a pro eat, for the, indexing of the 'minutes of the City of Petaluma dating . f ;rom, the year 1.858, stating that similar pro jects, are being conducted in neighborhood. cities and that it will be a valuable record at a 'very s5ght cost to the City. It was the consensus of opinion that the ap.plicatioh for - said project be filed. - Re improvement of railway crossings : City Attorney Brooks reported having recently communicated with the Northwestern. Pacific Railway Co. and Petaluma & Santa Rosa Railway with regard to - the .improvement of their railway crossings, but reported. that to date he had not received a reply from his letters. A ,complaint from residents on Ellis Street regarding the impassible condition of said street was referred to the Street Committee and Superintendent of Streetz for investigation. Mayor" Woodson officially informed the Council that Roy Robothan had 'been appointed by the Board of Health as rodent, exterminator at a salary, of $100. -per month and that until June 30, 193`8, merchants will.continue . to contribute to the City toward the expense of said rodent extermination. City'Engineer Gonzalez reported that.. all arrangements had been made for. the installation of plumbing.in.,the Badger Bldg. on. Hopper Street, said building being used for..thd building -of - exhibits - of the Redwood Empire Di -for, the Golden (late Exposition. He: stated ,that the - plumbing fixtures: are being contributed by the A. F. Tomasini Company and that the 6x­pp,nae which the City i,s to bear will be approximately $15.00 . The City Engineer was directed to secure necessary rights 'of. way from Mr. Myers, and Mr,. Baker for the continuation of the Thompson Creek drainage tube. Re - removal of pound: Councilman Deiss, Chairman of the Buildings & Grounds Committee, 'report'ed having discussed with Mr. Burton, the' matter of the removal of the , , pound ,from Kenilworth Park, and that Mr,*, Burton had expressed hi . desire to co- operate with the City in'the matter. The Buildings and Grounds Committee!was given further time to :s'ecure , a more suitable location. f or the pound. The Street Committee was asked to give further consideration to the painting of the traffic . lines on:Maln '& 3rd Str.eets, Re" -cMArdis susponsi City Attorney Brooks, stated that n accordance with a request' made at the last Council meeting, he had conferred with Distridt'Attarn6y T. C. McGettigan and kaststant District Attorney Oy C. McGoldrick regarding the suapension, of Frank Mardis, and had, explained to them all of the facts -of which he had any knowledge, including the memorandum of notes that he had taken at the time of the conference with Mr.: Mardi s:, Mr" .. Begley,, ' MpLyor Woodson and himself,, and that at the conclusion of the conference he was informed by the District. -Attorney that he would discuss- the matter with his assistants, and take it under advisement,. Councilman Ingerson excused from the meeting at this, time. Re- Unit "C" Mr,., Harry N. Jenks, Consul-ting Engineer, submitted plans and specifications for Unit C 'of the new sewage system., which he stated had been informally. approved by the `PWA and that they would forward their Written approval on `Wednesday: It suggested. that the meeting of the Council 'be adjourned L d to ,,.'Wednesday evening in order that the plans'and 7speelficatiorib may be adopted by the City Council as quickly as possible.. Re- Piling for treatment plant: Mr. Jenks also r,eported having discussed with the PWA of the inatt6r of the piling base 6 for the treatment plant... stating that he will have the plans and specifications, for 'this .work ready by Wednebda:y and th,at the es-timated cost bf thls additional work will be in the nierghborhood of $12..596 and tha:t said. work "Should be submitted to the PWA in the form of 'a Chang_ e Order. Councilman Myers was excused from 'the meeting at this time. Also for the purpose of authorizing a efiange' order covering certain .piling and other work on- unit "B" of said Municipal Sewage Disposal Project, adopted by 5affirmative votes,, 2 absehtees.
