The monthly reports of the Auditor., Treasurer, Chief of Police, Police Judge, City Wharfinger, were.read'and fi.led., The Auditor reported the apportionment on May 24, 1938 of 53,909.78 from the Unapport' oned Fund to the various funds entitled theret:ow .Report of progress to on the new Fire Station was -read and .f i led. Request - from the Division o Highways do approve the installation of additional warning and d`irec :signs on State Highway ;routes in the City of Petaluma.,, at an estimated cost of, `$30.00 read and fi ed. Re Parallel parking C- ommuni cation from, the Roblar Farm Center, embodying„ a , motion. carried by that group that the Roblar Farm Center go on record as being, opposed to parallel parking on Kentucky Street and Western. Avenue, read and filed. Petition signed by 27' merchants and professional men,, stating that although they are not in disfavor of parallel parking, th -ey feel,. that the lower Main Street area should be changed to diagonal parking if the ' Gouncl finds it in order to favor other sections of the business district with _said change, read and filed. Re - 'improvement of Wicker -sham Park`; Commu:nicat'on from Walter C. Brown, Secretary of the Park Commission, recommending that an application be made to the. Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works for a grant, in aid 'of the improvement of Wickersham .Park, said improvement to cost $15,220.00, read and filed. In this connection the:C'Tesk reported the ;filing of, the app'lca.ton for the said grant, and the filing of data supporting the grant application. Contract change - Fire Station: Communication from Brainerd Jones, Architect on the new Fire `Station requesting the a-pproval.of certain minor changes from the approved drawings and specifications, read and filed. Change Order - Fire Station: Resolution #4818 C.S. introd °uced by Councilman Gerva'aoni, seconded by Councilman Peters, autho sizing certain minor changes from the approved drawings and spe °cifications of the Petaluma Fire Station, adopted by '7 affirmative votes 'Appointing William'Soren °sen - Park Commissioner: Resolution ,##4819 .C.S. intro.duged by Councilman I'ngerson., s,econded..by .Councilman Peters, re- appointing William 'S. Sorensen a_memb;er.of the Park Commission for the term expiring July.l, 194°1,, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Re dedication of ,new fire station,: Mayor Woodson. called the attention of. the City Council to the fact that the hbW fire station .is nearly, comp:l.eted and that steps' should be taken to arrange for the proper dedication thereof. In this connection Mayor�Woodson appointed a comm'tt.ee consisting of Councilmen Gervasoni, D'ei - ss; "and'. Penry to meet with the- Board of Fire Commiss °•ion members to formulate plans for said dedication. Re - PWA grant for Wickersham Park': Resolution ##4€317 C.S.. ii'trodu6ed by Councilman De'ss, seconded by Councilman Peters, authorizing the City of Petaluma to file an application to the United States of America through the Federal Emergency Admin- istration:of °'Public Wprks for a, grant to aid in financing the cons. truetion of a recreational park On the property d.evised to the City.of Petaluma under the last Will and T'es:tatent, of,Mr_s. Elizabeth Wickersham Maclay on the parcel "bounded by 4th Street, 5th Street, G. Street and H. Street, Petaluma, Calif orn.ia, and designating J. S. Woodson; Mayor, to furnish such information as the Government may request, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Re. installation of, 8" main down 2nd St: Mayor Woodson reported having notified the California-Water Service Company to.install an 8 main.along 2nd.Street, the City to purchase and install ten hydrants, 7 of which to be located along the new 8" main and three to be 'located in other section& of the City. The Mayor stated that with the completion.of the new fire station and the installation o== f.the,new 8'' main and 10 additional hydrants, that the City had ful- filled the demand -s of.. the .Board of Fire Underwriters. for better fire protection and that as a result it was understood that there 'would be a reduction in fire insurance rates of 4% in the industrial district and 122% in the residential district.
