READING OF THE JOURNAL: he minu es 7o The last regular meeting of February- 20th and the special meeting of February 23`rd, were read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF OFFIC The Clerk reported. the filing on! March 4, 1:93'9 of plans,., specifications, and: estimates of cost for th,e widening of Washington St. from Main S'treert to hater Street, which plans and specifica.:ti:ons had :received the approval of the State Division- of Highways.: The ,monthly reports of the Chief of Police, Poundman., Wharfin.ger, Police Judge, Auditor, Treasurer, Garbage, Ins.pector,,• were read and placed on fide. The Clerk reported the filing of Affidavits of Pub7icaf'ion. of Ordinance No. 506 C . S., and Notice to' Bidders re alteration -s of City. Hall: REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEE`S: The* nance Committee submitted it4s report whereupon Resolution #4082 C.S. introduced by Councilman Gerv`asoni, seconded by Councilman Dess, directing the Auditor to draw warrants (Nos. 2320 to 2'410 inclusive) against the various City Funds in payment of.claims allowed and approved: by the Finance Committee, adopted by 6 affirmative vote `, 1 absentee.: PETITIONS AND COMMUNIC Communication - from Supervisor Howard Knight.stating that as soon as the County Engineer. has time that they will look 'over th'e Lakeville Highway relative to painting traffic lines thereon., read and filed. Request from the ,Petaluma Empire Minstrels for •financial assistanc °e, read and filed, whereupon Resolution #4983 C.:S. introduced by Councilman Gervasoni., seconded by Councilman Peters;, appropriating the sum of $50.00 to the Petaluma Empire minstrels, adopt °e.d by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee,. St Petition containing 99 signatures calling the attention of the City Council to the: numerous small and unsightly frame business buildings on Third Street•, principally used as beer and hamburger stands, and asking -that th °e Council take n6ces ;sary steps to correct the present conditions and prevent a further development along said line, read.and .filed. The matter was later brougYh.a up under the head of New Business , Attorney Ralph Starke and Mr. George Ross, addressing the Council on behalf of th.e petition. Mayor 'J'V'oodson referred. the entire matter to the Zoning Committee and City Attorney, urging the Zoning Committee to expedite the completion of the new zoning map and the 'preparation of a zoning ordinance. ' d ' a - alteration of City Hall: This being the time. set for opening bids for the alteration of the City Hall,• the Clerk teported having received two bids, and proceeded to open and read said bids, one from Vogensen Construction Go.. for the total sum of $1674. and, the- other from' J,.H. Frahm for the total sum of $1883-00 The bid of the Vo Construction Co. being, the lowest responsible bid,, Resolution #4985 C.S. introduced by Councilman Oervasoni, seconded by Councilman Deiss, awarding the contract for the furnishing' of all labor, material and supp1le's required in the c,ons�truotion of the alteration of the Petaluma City I to Vogensen Construction Co. for the total sum of $1674.00, Provided said contractor will agree to complete said work not later 'efor, adopted by than 60 days after the execution of the contract ther, 6affirmative votes, 1 absentee.
