ROLL CALL: Present: Councilman Deiss, Gervasoni:, Berger; - Myers, Penry, Peters, and Mayor Woodson. READING OF'THE JOURNAL :. The minutes of the last regular meeting of June 5th were read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF STANDING COB,�ITTEES The Finance Committee submitted its report, whereupon Re "solution #5023 C.S. introduced by Councilman Ge.rvasoni, seconded by Councilman Myers, .directing the Auditor to draw warrants (Nos. .3238 to 3385 inclusive) against the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Myers and John E: Penry were elected Councilmen of said City for the .full term of four years; and that Nathan Thompson and Paul - Elmore were elected members of the Board • of Education of said City for the full term of four years; and directing the Clerk to make out and deliver to , each of the persons elected to the offices a Certificate of Election and that she require said officers ta'take and subscribe to their oath of office as required by the, City Charter, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Transfer of funds: Re solut ion #5025 C S. i.ntrodu -ced 'by Councilman Gervasoni, seconded by Councilman Myers, directing the Auditor and Treasurer to transfer the. sum of $4496.17 from the In Lieu Tax Fund to the Police Fund adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Re.- payment of Municipal Band for Flag Day: Resolution #5026 C. S.. introduced by Councilman Deis s, seconded 'by :Councilman Myers,, approving m d ratifying the action by the Music Commis.,sion in furnishing a musical program at the Flag, 'Day celebration at McNear Park on June 14,, 1939, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Re contract Frith City Garbage Co. for removal of garbage, & rubbish: Resolution #5027 C.S. introduced by Councilman Peters, seconded by Councilman Berger, resolving that the City of Petaluma enter into a contract with the City Garbage Company for the exclusive right to collact and remove garbage and .rubbish in the City of Petaluma, in accordance with the provisions of Ord- inance'liq. 368 C.,S.,, from month to month commencing the 1st day of July, '1939, but in no event for a pe -riod longer than 6 months from and .after the. 1st day of July, 1939,,. and providing that the City Garbage Company shall pay unto the City of` Petaluma,, the sum of $125. per month in advance for consideration of 'said contract: and,directing the Mayor to execute said contract, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Mayor Woodson thanked Councilman •Deiss for his splendid work as Chairman of the Flag Week Committees, The Garbage Committee was granted further time to report on the revision of the, present Garbage Ordinance. Mayor, Woodson. -reported. on a recent meeting With the State Highway officials and Sonoma Board of Supervisors regarding the realignment of the highway north and aouth of` Petaluma, stating" that the District Engineer feels that the City should . contribute to the expense of purchasing right of ways for the widening. Another meeting is to bo held in Santa Rosa on Thursday morning, June 22nd, 1939. .
