REPORTS OF OFFICERS,: The Clerk reported the, fil-ing of Affidavits of PublIc,atIon of Ordinance No.. 5,15 C.S. and Notice to Bidders re mat&rials, fbr Thompson Creek. The Glerk also reported that the annual rep-ort of the audit of the books of the City of Petaluma had been filed by D. F. Beglo,y, public accountant. NEW BUSINESS.- Opening of bias - materials for T ' hompson Creek: This being the time set for opening bids for furnishing materials for the. Thompson Creek Drainage Tube, the Clerk proceeded to open and read the bids filed, whereupon' Resolution #5049 C.S. introduced by Councilman Gervasoh I i seconded by Councilman Penry accepting the bid of The Di.am-ond Match Company agreeing to furnish all of the re-Inforcing steel cut to lengths as specified for 62. per cwt. F.O.,B. Jobsite., discount 1/2 of 1 if paid i 10 days from. date: of invoice, sales tax included in bid; the bid of q. P. Gervasoni, seconded.b:y Councilman Myers, direc:ti'ng. the Auditor and Treasurer to: make the following transfers:. From the 1937 Sewer Construction Fund to the*1937 Municipal Improvement Bond Fund, the sum of $3577.50 in payment of interest due September 1, 1939; from the River and Harbor Fund to the 1932 Municipal Improvement Bond Fund, the sum of X0592.35; and from the 1937 Sewer Construction Fund _ Fund-to the Street Fund the sum of 1996.02 for labor used by the Street Department in connection with the 1937 Sewer Construction Project, adopted by '7 affirmative votes. Re - 'appointment of City Planning Commission. Mayor Woodson called attention to the fact that,a City Planning Commission must be appointed and asked that the members of the City Council be "ready to select commissioners at the next regular meeting. Dr.. George Meader, Mr. Tom Cline, Dr. L. J. Snow were present as delegates from the American Legion asking for financial assistance for the,Armist;ice Day Celebration which is to be held in Petaluma November 11th They stated that the cost of said celebration would be about $1000.00 and asked that the City contribute one -third of the cost. The matter was referred to the Finance Committee for investi and recommendation at the neat 'meeting. Mayor Woodson reported that- Daniel F. Begley had been employed t'o audit the books of the ,City of` Petaluma for the ensuing year on a monthly basis. T�layor Vtioodson also reported that through the efforts .of City Attorney Brooks, who contacted Congressman Lea, the final payment of the P.M.A. grant it the amount of '$31.,510.had been received. The. Street Committee was given further time in the annexation matter. Mayor Woodson reported that several meetings had taken place with the owners of the Royal Tallow ,& Soap Company relative to the securing of a location for its plant and that in all probability said concern would. move its plant some two miles down, the river at the site of the city ,.dumping grounds and that an exchange of'land would be affected that would be to the advantage of both the City of Petaluma and the Royal Tallow & Soap Company.
