Special meeting of the Council of Vie City of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor Woodson.
ROLL CALL:
Presontt Councilmen Deiss, Gervasoni, - 3eP er, Myers, Penry, Peters•, -
and Mayor Woodson.,
READING OF THE CALL.:

members of the City Council to the holding of said.meeting,.and the
certificate of the Clerk of the mailinL of the notices of-said special
meeting.
Re - permit to display fireworks
The applicati of the M rchant's Committee of the Chamber of
Commerce for a permit to conduct a public fireworks display at the
Parade. of the 'Kitches celebration, acco;Man ed by the approval of the
Fire Chief, and a bond in the sum of ,$1000. was read and filed,whereupon
Resolution #5079 C.S.
in- troduced by Councilman Penry,.aeconded by Councilman Berger, granting
said- permit., adopted 'by 7 aff - rmative votes.
Re = Recreational Commission.:
The ;natter of the creat of a Recreational Commission was discussed..,
City Attorney Karl Brooks reporting on the pz: ovisions of the act authorizing
the creation of Recreational Commissions and the powers vested in said
Commissions'under'said act. he suggested that a simple resolution be
adopted providing for the creation of a Recreation Board and designating
the members of that Board.
hlr.. James rase addr.es ed the Council outlining the history of
recreat=ional activities in Petaluma during the past several years and
pointing :out: that it was not the .desire at this time that the Commission
be vested with authority to incur indebted - ness but merely to have an
advisory board to outline a program of recreational activity along
similar- lines,; but on a smaller scale, to that carried on in the larger
cities,.
Mir. Tilm. Barton of the W.P.S. also addressed the Council on the
vital necessity of a recreational department 1 or •the Cit of Petaluma.
`It nras' decided that the City Attorney prepare a resolution appointing
a recreational Board and that Mr. James Crase submit to the City Attorney
a li°s't of • names 'for the personnel of said board. v
Re- amendment to License Ordinance:
