Regular meeting of the :Council of the City of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor Woodson,.

Present: Councilmen Berger, Deiss', Gervasoni, `�riyers, Penry, Peters,
and Mayor Woodson.

Th minutes of the last regular meeting of March 4, 1,940 were

REPORTS OF` OFFICERS
Th&Clerk reported the filing of Affidavits of Publication of
Ordinances Nos. 517 and 518
Notice to Bidders re purchase..of automobile.
Plans and specifications for the improvement of North Fair Street
were submitted by the City Engineer and placed on -file.
- .''The Librarian' s report for the month of February was read and placed
on file.

INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES:
Ordinance 10. b1.9 C.S. introduced by Councilman Penry, seconded by
Councilman Berger, entit " An ordinance of the City of . Petaluma, providing
for th'e Work of improv ng.:North Fair Street by constructing concrete curbs
and gutters on each side thereof and an oil bound macadam surface between
said curbs and gutters, all as a project of the Federal Works Progress
Administration;.authorizing an agreement b the City and the owners'
of property .along said proposed improvement. work to provide that said owners
shall, pay all of the costs thereof over and above .those paid by the Federal
!i'Jorks Pr.ogre'ss Adm accepting and approving the plans and
specifications for said work prepared by the City Engineer, " was read,
approved by the City Attorney and ordered published.

Western Avenue and along Western Avenue to and across Main Street and along
the alley between Montgomery I.Alard & C.o and Western Auto Supply Co,. store
into the Petaluma River." came up regularly and was adopted by 7 affirmative
votes... .
Ordinance No. 518 C.S. introduced by Councilman Gervasoni, seconded
by 'Councilrr,an Peters,, entitled, "An ordinance of the City of Petaluma
authorizing pthe purchase of a new .1940 model, four - door Standard Sedan
automobile,,. of not less than 85 h.p. for use by the Police Department,
at a price not to . exceed $1000.00 less . the. allowance for the 'secondhand
1937 model Ford four -door sedan automobile (except the Bosch generator
therein., to be retained by the City) to be turned in and applied on the
purchase price of said new four door Standard Sedan automobile,d came
up. regularly and was adopted by 7 affirmative votes.

This being the time set for the opening of bids for the
purchase of .an automobile for the Polic Department, the Clerk.
,reported having received. four bids. ;and proceeded to - d`

said bids from The Sanderson 1�Iotor Co. ,, Murphy Chevrolet Company;
and Farrell Bros.. The bids were- referred to and considered by
the Finance Committee and Chief of Police, whereupon,
Resolution #5116 C.S.
introduced by Councilman 111yer,s, seconded by Councilman Gervas.oni,,.
accepting the ,bid of. the Sanderson motor C'b. for one Ford Special
Polic4'95 "h:p. 1940 model four door Standard Sedan automobile,
for the total sum of_- 47,5.00,, which includes sales tax and the
1937 secondhand Ford sedan-automobile (except the Bosch Generator
therein) , �adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Baker St., sidewalk biro j,ect:
Councilman Penry r eported that property owners on Baker
Street,b.etween Stanley and Bodega Avenue,, desire to c- onstruct
sidewalks a-long said street as a V.P.A. proj but that. the
sidewalk port - ion of said street has never been dedicated - to the
City. Said property owners are willing to dedicate six feet
.for sideival'k purposes pr oviding the City will. , sponsor the work as
a W.P..A, project., It was pointed out that the cost of securing
title reports for-said dedication would be rather costly :and
the matter Was referred to the City Attorney for investigation
as to, charge for said title reports..
UNFINISHED .BUSINESS:

City Engineer Gonzalez: reported that TvIr. Lawler of the
Poultry Producers had telephoned him in connection with the
proposed° Bayliss St. W.P.A. project, stating that they did not
Wish to deed: Lot 12 to the City as they had pls:ns for its }use.
No further action. taken,
Coun,e_il -man Penry reported that Bassett Street. Extension
is not eligible as a 11-P.A. project for ''the e reason that there are
only 'three houses on said street and therefor not in accordance
with the policy of the W.P.A. wt`th regard to unimproved streets
