The Clerk reported the filing of Affidavit of Publication of Ordinanc,E No. 536,C.S. REPORTS OF STANDING CO1;11ITTEES The Finance ommittee muted. its report, whereupon Resolution .j5224 C. S�. , adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Communication from the American Legion Auxiliary,, submitting a report of their- voluntary emergency service, read and placed on file. Communication -from the War Department calling the attention of t'h 'e, City of Petaluma to the necessity of the City of Petaluma 'providing dumping grounds f or some 37.,,000 cubic yards of spoils from the con templated dredging project, read and filed. In this connection Mayor li'dobdss n reported that °an agreement had been zigne:d. with Chris Beck wher the spoils may be dumped o his property ad ja cen t to the Petaluma River, and that the War Department had. been so notified. Resolution #52-27 C.S. , Lhtrod.11,ced by Councilman Berger seconded by Councilman Penry .providing for angle parking on 'certain business streets in the City of ,Petaluma, prohibiting the parking of vehicles at certain specified locations_; and changing the parking-time limit ,from two hours to one hour 'on certain Main streets in the busines district, - was read,, and adopted, by 7 affirmative votes. .In.°this conne.otion Councilman Penry pointed out that this resolution is 'adopted -at the request . of the Merchants Committee of - the Chamber'of Commerce. , from the merchants on lower 118iin. St... were present regarding action on the petition recently f iled by them. Kay.or Woodson ,stated that the requests in this petition had been referred't'o the Etroet Committee and that if their plan is practical recommendations I .�c will be made that the, , work. be done when funds are available f or it-.,., He further explained that the changes, being made at this time are only those that can be made with little expenditure of money. Need of new roof on City Hall.; C,ounc.ilman,Deiss 'reported that the roof of the City Hall leaks badly and,that repairs will have to be made to it He suggested that the heavy P tends ,y bell on the to of the building be removed it ten to weaken the structure. The matter was reD-nrred to the Buildings and. Grounds Committee for inve ion and report back at the next meeting. Re ., sti,gat impv.of Hopper, Jefferson,, and D Sts: City Attorney Brooks reported that the City Engineer's plans, specifications and estimatea of cost for the improvement .of Jbfferson. Hopper ' and ,D Streets,, have been forwarded to the DIV is;ion, of Highways . f or their approval, and that if they are returned in time he will have an, oPdinaft6e covering -this improvement ready for the next meeting 'of the City Council. Re - New location for Royal Tallow Co,. ow & Soap City. Attorney Brooks r eported thathe had been ,infbrme'd by the attorney for the Royal Tallow &'Soap Co. that they intend to bl- teak grou - nd this week , for their new plant.. Clark St,.* dedication.* 'urp - City Engineer reported that Mr. C.
