Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to
order by Mlayor Woodson.

In, connection with this cont-erilp -late d. dredging project, Mayor .Vloodson.
reported that he. had b.een informed by the War Dept,. that they. have
insufficient. pipe to dredge the spoils .as far as the Beck property
and that it will - therefor be necessary to see I ure an area. closer to
the dredging work,. In consideration this the bids were hd1din
abeyance until the next:meeting the Cit y Council and
Resolution #5250 50 C. S:.
directing �that checks accompanying th bids , of .Louis , Biasotti & Son
and the Roberts Island Dredging CO. be returned to said bidders
was also held in abeyance pending the next meeting of the Council
on June 5�, 1941.
Impv of D, Hopper & Jefferson 8ts:
This also being the time set for opening bids for the, improve-
ment D, Hopper, and Jefferson Streets., the Clerk reported having
received One bid f rom Louis' Bia8otti Son in the sum Of $ 6 4

The bid being substantially higher than the amount budgeted by the
State Division of'Hirrhiprays for said work, the same was taken under
CD
advisement until the -meeting of the Council on June 5,th

Attorney being directed to refer said matter to the Division of
Highways.
Hill Blvd.: sewer complaint:
Sqperintendentof Stree,taGlah , n reported that the sewer on
Hill Blvd,. had not been functioning properly and that he believed
it would be necersanT to re- construct a portion of the line. Tdr.
Robert Green 'also spoke on *the subj stating that the present
condition was . a serious menace to Public health. The ma_tfter was
discussed and referred to the Street Commi'ttee for investigation
With power to ac't to correct the fault if possible.
CouncilmanBerger reported that he and Chief Peters had looked
over. -the fireworks ordinance and that he believed that the present
ordinance meets the requirements for the control of - the s�ale of
fireworks. He sugg,e:sted that the Chief of Police contact the
merchants I t's selling firewark.s and inf'orT.q them' of the requirements of
the ordinance.
Approval of .14 of Agreement

introduced by Councilman Penrnj, seconded by Councilman Berger,
approving Memorandum of Agreement for expenditure of the 1 4 cent
gds tax for the 1941-43 biennium allocated for State Highways

the City Of Petaluma and directing the Mayor and City Clerk to
sign said Memorandum. of Agreement,. adopted by '7 aff irTiiat votes,
Councilman Deiss, Chairman of the Bui - ldiftgs and Grounds
Committee,, reported having received additional bids for the re-
roofing 'Of the 'City Hall. The Committee was granted further time
in the, matter.
City Attorney Brooks reported . having communicated with. the
person who has* been conducting _a garage business in the ne
hood of 6-th,& E Stre.ets and had advised him that he was violating
the provisions of our Zoning Ordinance.,
.,Councilman Berger_ eporte,d that he had been informed, by
people livin in the neighborhood that, everything had been cleaned

up and that condition,s there were, again normal.,
Mayor Woodson complimented Councilman Deiss for his successful
handling of the. recent Memorial Day prograillY,
Councilman. Deiss gave a brief - report on the progress of his
committee for the observance of Flag Week and stated that all of
the local '.loagp,8 and churches had been invited to tak0t. i n the
services.

Mayor Noodson reported that he and Councilman Gervasoni
had attended a recent meeting in Santa Rosa when plans -were discussed
for raising funds for recreational 'purposes for the soldiers away
from camp.-
