City Attorney BrQoka - reported that he had received a 'copy of a letter from the Royal Tallow & Soap Company to their attorneys in which they stated that they had started the excavation of their new :plant. on ' July 1'July 14th. In this connection City; Engineer Gonzalez reported that, the contract, had been, let for the building at a cost of apprQkimate-ly $70 and that work had already commenced, He further reported that, the new plant is being, so cbhstftipted that there will be� no odor whatever from the affluent.. Re - radio equipment for Police Chevrolet! Councilman Berger, reported that the. radio equipment on the :Chevrolet 'sedan is obsolete ) and, for that reason said car is' not being used for patrol . purposes although it has a mileage of only 2 against the mileage of 63,00 on the Ford patrol Cap. He s - uggested that steps be 'taken to get a new radio transmitter and receiving set for - the Chevrolet. Mr. Earl Byars representative rezeritative of the local union also stated that to his knowledge the local restaurants lunch rooms , movies, etc. are deriving a great deal Of business from outside solicitors and that such business should be encouraged - not discouraged. Representatives from the Decker and Gainsbor6i!gh Studios also. addressed the Council of the subject -..! stating that they feel that the local phOtographera should be protected from the large.groups Of outside photographers who work the c ommunity. and that they _f eel that the present license f ee is not at all excessive. The entire matter was, discussed a length and referred to the Finance Committee for study and r,ecOmme.n The matter of a directional sign reqqested by the Christian Science. Church was referred to 'the 'Street Committee,. Councilman �Ihh. DeiZs reported that the M.
