The annual report of the Board Of Park Commissioners was read and placed on file. The Clerk reported the .filing of the annual audit of the books of the,- City of Petaluma,. NEW BUSINESS: Re - tree%trimming: The Superintendent of Streets reported that many of the trees on the public streets are in need of trimming,,, the low hanging limbs being a danger to pedestrians as. well as vehicles . A discussion vi as-had as to whether this. work should be done by the S=treet- OrPark 'Departments and the 'matter was re ferred ferred 'to the Street COMM-ittee to. meet with the Secretary of the Park 'Commission and work out some solution to this problem. 4 Re - entrances for z new market on Main Street: A Edwards and Company for permission t ' o break the curb to install entrances on both Kentucky and Main.Str-e-ets for its new Market,, and also asking permission to move the hydrant and light pole in front of the property on Main Street, was referred to the Street and Light Committees for investigation with power to act. rA711 1 . Appropriation for -, control - of - puncture °plana;.and star thistle: A representative from the Department of'Agriculture addressed the Council asking that the. - City co operate in the. way of appropriating about $200; ®00 for the control of puncture plant .and star thistle in this City. 'He stated that the Agriculture -Department is endeavoring to provide: -a weed -free. area west of Petaluma and that this cannot be ' accomplished unless the weeds are controlled in Petaluma also. The 'S'treet .Department was .given 'full authority to proceed with the work under the direction of the Department of Agriculture:.,_ Counci Berger reported that a platfOrm has bee construct at the end of G Street, between two Poultry Producers buildings, vdiich prevents the fire• pumper from getting to the, river at that point. Councilman Berger was asked to investigate the matter further, Councilman. Berger,. Chairman of the - Finance Committee, was authorized to order necessary radio equipment for the Chevrolet sedan at a cost of about $267.5Q. The committee to report on the, licensing of vending. machines and sol ci,tinrg was .,granted further time. Councilman Berger brought up the matter of proceeding with the disconnecting of house drains from sanitary °sewers in order to relieve the load on the treatment plant during rainy rain weather. The matter was referrred to the Sanitary Inspector to bring in a list of premises not complyingtYi the, city ordinance, Th Superintendent of Streets reported that the 'new'storm., drain in Linda Vist has been commenced,.. City Engineer Gonzalez reported having met with Penry and Berger regarding_ certain areas that are flooded during*heavy - rainfalls. He suggested corner e e. ted the following: That -a sump be -built at the - southeast -2nd. Streets to rectify :the -flood conditions there said improvement he estimated to cost about $600.00; that two catch basins be: installed at 3rd. and C- Streets to take the water down 'to the 24" storm .ewer in, front of the Post Office and .thence to"'. Thompson Creek at a cost Hof approximately 81000.00; that some of -the over-loading of the treatment plant during stormy weather could be eliminated by opening some of the old sewers and. permitting' the storm mater to be. emptied through ..them into t'he.
