to order by Mayor Woodson.

READING OF THE JOURNAL'` The minutes of the last regular _meeting. of January 5, 1942`:; were
read and.approved as recorded.
REPORTS. OF OFFIQER&:
e rarzan s report for the mont of December, 1941, and the
Wharfinger! s report for the month of November, 1941 were read and
placed on file.
REPORTS OF STANDING :C011MITTEES:
The Finance C ommittee sub mitted its report, whereupon

introduced by Councilman Berger, seconded by Councilman King,, direct
ing the Auditor to draw warrants (Trios. 1686 to. 1789 'inclusive) a.galnst
the various City Funds in payment of claims. allowed. and approved by
the Finance Committee, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.

Letter from Petaluma; Post No. 1929,, Veterans of Foreign years.,
commending the Mayor, City Council and Petaluma Defense Council for
the systematic and conscientious manner in which the organization
of defense work has been carried out,, read and placed on file.
Letter from.Petaluma , To-msend Club.No. 1 offering its support
-and assistance in- anyway at any time, read and filed.
NEW BUSINESS
Transfers of funds

introduced by Councilman Berger, seconded by Councilman King,, direct
ing the-Auditor and Treasurer to transfer the sum of 1723.47 from
the General Fund to the Music Fund, in accordance With Amendment 719
of the Charter of the City ,of Petaluma,, adopted by 7 affirmative
votes r

introduced by Councilman Berger, 'seconded by Councilman King,
directing the Auditor and Treasurer to 'transfer - 249.66 from the
Street Fund to the General Fund; $243.13 from the Police Fund to
the General Fund; $142.35 from the Fire Fund to the General Fund;
and $64.81 from the Park- Fund to` the 'General Fund for gasoline
used by the various: departments and previously paid for from the
General Fund, adopted'by 7 affirmative votes.,

Lease of property on Dewey St. to County of Sonoma:.
City Attorney .Karl Brooks Was �instr.zcted to prepare an
ordinance for introduction'at the next mee ting'of the City Council,
leasing city owned property on Dewey' Street to the ' County of Sonoma
fo a five year period,, said property to be used by the Coun6ty'as
a corporation yard adjoining its present yard..
The Superintendent of Streets reported that he had been
requested to place additional rock on roadways at Kenilworth'Park,
said park now being occupied by a number of armIT troops. It was
the consensus of opinion that improvement, to the roadways should be
made at once and the matt,er' was referred to the Street Committee
and Superintendent Streets with power to act.

i- ntroduced by Councilman Penry, seconded by Councilman Berger, directing
the Mayor and City Clerk to record a Notice of Completion - covering the
'rrork done by Louis Biasotti & Son of the resurfacing of Hopper and
Bridge Streets, adopted by -7 ,affirmative votes,
Biltmore Co.. offer of trucks for Defense Work:
11'ayor Woodson reported that the 'Biltmore Company had offered the
us to the city of its two large trucks for ' the hauling of sand to
vacant lots, the material to be used for the fighting of incendiary
bombs if necessary.
City.Attorney 3rooks reported that the attorney for Y. C. Soda had
offered to setthe the suit he had brought against the City of Petaluma
for the sum of $1250. A discussion was had regarding the suit and the
matter left in the hands of the City Attorney.
The ,matter of increasfng the value of city property for insurance
purposes, due to an - increase in building costs; was brought up by
Councilman Seidell and discussed at length,, an.d.referred back to
Councilman Seidell' who offered to secure more figures showing comparative
costs on 75". &5'; arid 90% valuations.
ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to come before the meeting,, the
meeting vas declared adjourned.
