NEW BUSINESS: R to soldiers for heTpn control fire, at Kenilworth Park: Resolution x C.S. introduced by Councilman King., seconded by Council Deiss, 'appropriating the sum.of 010.00 from the Entertainment and Promotion Fund to be paid to'`Lieut. now stationed at Kenilworth.Park, to be used in purchas ing cigarettes and supplies for the soldiers who assisted in controlling the recent fire at Kenilworth Park, - adoVted by 5 affirmative votes, 2 absentees. A discussion was had regarding the adviseability of depositing the Thomas Lee Charity Fund in an inactive or time deposit account or investing a substantial .part of it in Defense Savings Bonds. The matter was laid on the table for further investigation. Group.Life Insurance Plan -application withdrawn. Representatives from the Travelers Insurance Company addressed the Council regarding the status of the group insurance plan for the City Petaluma,. They were informed that the majority of the employees and officials were disappointed in not securing, the -hospitalization and surgical benefits as well as the life insurance, and it was the opinion of - the `City Council that the application for group life insurance be withdrawn, whereupon Resolution #53 n y erger, seconded by Councilman Penry resolving introduced b Gouncllman B , g that thi Gity withdraw its application for Group.Lize Insurance., dated Dec 1.,,. 1941, to .the' Travelers Insurance Company and accept from said Company the X25.00 paid with said application and that the Mayor be and he ,is hereby authorized to notify said company of said withdrawal and agreement to accept said refund of $25.00, = adopted by 5 affirmative votes, 2 absentees. ..The matter. of checking unlicensed vending machines was brought up by Councilman King ?and referred to. the Chief of Police. City Attorney Brooks reported having .written to Supervisor Kennedy regarding his request to lease property adjoining the County .Corporation Yard, informing him that said property i s a portion of Dewey Street, - but. that to date he had not heard from him.. The Street Coi.ttee was granted further time to contact pro erty mrn owners -regarding the annexation of property adjacent to the City, man. Berger reported that he .had been .informed that some of the property owners on Sunnyslope Avenue were not in favor of annexation. . Councilman King brought up the Hopper. and : Bridge Streets and asked satisfaetrily performed.
