Commander Eugene Bell addressed the Council- stating that if appropriate
ceremonies can' be. arranged for 'the ; removal of the cannon on Armistice
Day, the American Legion will be very happy to' co - operate and plan. its
Armistice Day program around ..said ..ceremony. Mayor Woodson appointed
Dr. Snow, Roy Evans, and, Tom :.C.line of the American Legion as a committee
to arrange with-the Army for appropriate•,ceremonies in this connection.

Mr. Nathan'Thompson co-ordinator of the Petaluma Defense�
Council gave 'a report of the, progress of the, def5nse council,, .
and the incident rehearsel which was co nducted nducted by Major Hense

of the office of Civilian Defense on October 5th;. He reported
that the drill had been a, test . for the entire organizatiorl and
all departmentshad participated in it. The, weaknesses of

mr. Thompson stated that additional defense workers are badly

Mr A., B. Chamber addressed the 'Council-, requesti
that an ordinance be: adopted to eliminate "front yard chicken
yards". He complained of. such ,a condition next to his

re-sidence Hinman 'Street. The matter was 'takeii--unjer consideration.
The matters of painting the City, Jail and improving the plumbing
system in the , Jail were referred to the Buildings and Committee
with power to act,
The City Attorney reported having investigated the matter of
a proposed. commercial well- drilling - project. in heighborhood of
N. Fair' and Sonoma Avenue,,, and that'he'had communicated with the
,owners calling their attention to the. fact that such.,drilling.might
e - b ,construe'd. as a violation Of the zoning ordinance in, residential
property, As a result, a petition had been filed with the
Planning Commission for permission to carry on the drilling to obtain
a large supply of water. The Planning Commission'had set Monday.,
