A `Petition was received signed by thirty three of the city
employees asking for a 15 per cent adjustment.in salaries over the
January 1, 1941 level,, in conformity w th wagesallowances granted by the
War.Labor Board.

A Certificate was received from the Ninth Service Command at
Fort Douglas Utah:, that Petaluma, had contributed the large cannon and
two small mortars from the war memorial in Hill Plaza 'ark, toward the
war .effort; read and filed. .
Recommendation was received from the Board of Fire Commissioners
requesting that the age limit for employment with the Fire--Department be
amended from 18 years to 30 years,'to 18 years to 60 ;dear, read whereupon

amending the age limit for employees for the Fire Department from 18
years to 30 years, to 18 years to 60 'years, adopted by 7 affirmative
Votes.
Resignation of L. G. Brewer a's :,,Janitor of the City Hall, read
whereupon

introduced- by.Councilman Stanley Seidell, seconded by Councilman .Myers—
accepting the resignation of L. G. 'Brewer as Janitor of the City Halli;t
and appointing Dan Jameson to fill the vacancy created by the
resignation 'of Mr, Brewer,, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
NEW BUSINESS:
Nathan C. 'Thompson, defense council co= ordinator,, advised that
the W P.A 'had 'been discontinued and that Mrs Sophy Hammell would be out
of a Poslt:on, in fact had been donating he -r services fbr the last
few days,. A poll of the Finance Committee showed that it was infavor of
continuing Mrs- Hammeil+s services as secretary at the ci.ty's expense,.

Pars Sophy `Haanmell as Secretery of the Petaluma Council of Defense at a
salary of $60.00 per Month, commencing December 1 -, 1942, adopted by '7
affirmative votes.
Street Superintendent Oscar Glahn requested that the Washington
Street bridge, tender be furnished with a su'itab -le living room, near t he
brid where :he could prepare his meals . The matter was referred to the.
street committee.

Councilman Stanley Seidell reported that the room on the upper
floor has been , renovated, and will soon be ready for use, for the
war price and rationing board.
Councilman Dess., Chairman of the build "ng and .ground
committee informed the council that painting of Interior of the
City fail Was now in progress and that prori.ties._prevented the purchase
of new plumbing fixtures for the prison so the old system will be
repaired,.
The PO L -,-o.n of the employees of the clay rrequesting ' a 15 %
salary, increase over January, 1, 1941 level, has been referred toi :the
Finance Gommittee, who. will meet with the- variouiS department heads
and report back to the council.
Councilman King reported that a local resident desired to
purchase'the old cabin on city property at Mt. View Ave and.5th
Street. There is a question as to - whether the same could be sold
without involving the sale of the real property: Thee City Attorney
will investigate.
Watson McFadden and,:B A Marcus advised the council that a recent
survey had revealed that exit doors in ,a number of buildings open
inward against outgoing traffic, the matter was referred to City
.Attorney Karl Brooks, for an opinion.
