INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES: New Census:
City Attorney Brooks reviewed correspondence he, had had with
the Dept. of Commerce regarding the re-taking of the. census in Petaluma
and the -proceed I tire 'and expens-e which must be borne 'by the City. The
matter was discussed and it was agreed that the City should proceed with
the taking of a new census at *,once,, whereupon

Modification of Painting Contract,:
Resolution #5562 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Penry, seconded by Gounciliffan Deiss' resolving
that t'h0 contract dated the 23rd day of Sept,. 1943' between this City
and W - T.' Bryan, providing f or the painti-ng. Of the. Fire House, Sewage
Treatment Piantand Sewage. Pumping Plant, be modified sa as t provide
that the sewage treatment plant and pumping plant be painted with

-Sherwin-WI lams Portland Cement paint, oil base.,, or its equal instead
of the Armor Coat paint provided for in the specifications; and that in
consideration n therefor, this City pay the:said Contractor in addition to

Councilman Brown reported that work on the Water St. Wharf
wi,ll.b,e: commenced by the contractor , on Rovi-16th - that. everything is
in readiness.; 'that the section drew Of the Petaluma and Santa Rosa R.R.
wi assist the contractor with the piling work.
Juvenile Delinquency:
City Attorney Brooks L stated that he 'had written to the California
Youth Authority at on November 3rd,, asking: -them what pro6eedure
would be necessary for a survey of the Juvenile delinquency problems in

this City., but t as yet he had not received a reply to his letter,

City Attorney Brooks was., asked to check the provisions of the contract
with - ,Roval Tallow & So Co. with regard to - their acceptance of wet
garbage, and tha recommend6ti,ors of Councilman SeIde"ll with regard to fences,
gates - and. Proper sign f or the dumping area were -.left in the hands of
Councilman' SeIdell..
City Attorney Brooks reported that he had interviewed 'Mr. Bettinelli,
the owner of a dog - in, the neighborhood of B and Hinman Streets, and that
he had promised to remove the dog, if it is the wish of his neighbors.,
Poundmaster Stein was asked to -investigate again..
Sanitary Inspection Of houses,. 'bars, etc.

Behrens'..of the Red Cross, and 16a jor Lyre of" the q...q.Army addressed the
Council regarding the za.nitary c:bndi't-ioris in Petaluma and the need for
more :iftspedti Of ' eating houses,, bars., - etc. Major Lyre stated
that ,th�L w,ere seriously concerned with the condition of
some of' the cafO.s and bars in this' .area., and that careless. handling of
dish0s as ,,
and sware,, etc._could result in serious epidemics. The

Council heartil Y, 'endorsed the plan of Dr.. Rundall. to have regular
'inspection of cafe_ s and bars and gave him full Power t.o _ act in arranging
for same and L :8180 in 'hiring a part-time public health nurse.
