Regular meeting- of the Council of;the -City of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor Woodson

READING OF THE JOURNAL;
The of the last regular meeting of May 1., 19 44, were read
and approved as recorded.
,REPORTS. OF OFFIQERS:,
. 1. - The report, o=- e Librarian for the month of April, 1944, was read
and f iled,
REPOR'T'S OF STANDING-COMIAITTEES:
Finance Commit tee_MURitt its report, whereupon
Resolution #5608 O.S.
intr6ducad by Councilman Seide,ll,., seconded by Councilman Brown,, directing
the'ATditor to draw warrants (N'os. 2691 to 2815 inclusive) against the
various City Funds in Payment of claims allowe'd and approved by the
Finance Committee adopted by 7 affirmative- votes.
-PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS:
Communication from t O. Petaluma .Council of Parents and Teachers
stating that the Rosenbepg Foundation will donate the sum of $500.00
for-us. in, providing a summer recreation program for the children of
this City, if said sum can be matched by community funds.. Also stating,
that. the Board of Education has consented to the. use of school buildings
for-said recreational classes. Read and.tiled..
The matter waadiscussed and referred to the Finance Committee to
confer with the Board of Education to see if that body will contribute
half of the. $500. requested,. The Finance, Committee was also asked to
recommend personnel for the Recreation Commission.
NEW BUSINESS:
Resolution, #5609 Ci.s,
introduced by QouncIlm-an Penry,, seconded by Counc-ilffian Deiss, employing
Mr. ,Emmett Dado to assist the City Attorney 'in the defense of the action
now in, the Superior Court of the State of California, in
the 'County of Sbnoma,, entitled,.,, ','Berlin and Selma Boltz vs. City of
Petaluma, etal". adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
'''The matter of installing' counters in the Ration Board quarter's' on the
3rd of the City Hall Was di8cussed and referred to the Bldgs. and
Ground Committee with power to, act
C-6uncilman Wm. Deiss extended an invitation to the members of -the
City - Council and official family to attend the Memorial Day exercises at
WaInUt Park' on Sunday afternoon May 28th,
Mayor'Woodson reported that the City of Petaluma had been left the
stun of V10 000 for the maintenance and improvement of Wickersham Park
by the late Thomas Macl6y.
Councilman Brown reported that members;of the Engineering Dept.
of the War Dept. had recently visited this .City and had a survey of
dredging work needed al ong the Petaluma River.
