Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor Wood'
ROLL CALL:
Present,: Councilmen Brown, De iss, Myers, Penry, Seidell,. and Mayor
Woo.ds;on. -
Absent:: Councilman King.
READING OF THE JO URNAL
Th minutes of the Tast regular meeting of May 15th and-the special
meeting of May 31st, were read and approved as recorded.
.REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
The Auditor reported the apportionment of the sum of $53,744.28 from
the Unapportioned Fund to the various funds entitled thereto.
The. monthly reports of the Rodent Exterminator, Poundmaster, Chief
of Police, Treasurer, Wharfinger, Police Judge, and the Auditor, were
read and filed,.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES
The Finance Committee su=mltted its "report; whereupon
Resolution #5612 C..S:
introduced by Councilman Seidell, seconded by Councilman Brown, direct-
ing the Auditor to draw warrants (Nos. 281.9 to 3007 inclusive) against
the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the
Finance Committee, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.
PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS:
The reslgn.at on of s., Gertrude B. 'McKinstry as a member of
Army and Navy Recreation Commission was read and filed, and
Resolution #5613 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Penry, seconded by Councilman Myers, accepting
the resignations of Mrs,. Gertrude B. McKinstrSr and Mr. F. V Matte ,, as
.members of the Army and Navy Recreation Commission, adopted by 6 affirm-
ative votes 1 absentee.
Recommendation from .the Poundmaster that the 'present ordinance
licensing dogs be amended to provide the same license fee of $1.00 for
both male and female dogs - and that the expiration date of licenses be
set the same as the County dog licenses, read and filed and taken under.
consideration.
Re- dredging o f Petaluma fiver
Communication from Henry S. Pond;,, Chief, Civil Works Division of the
War Department, stating that an allotment of funds has been received
for re --dredging the Petaluma Creek channel and turning basin from a
point about 5500 feet downstream from the turning basin to the foot.of
Western Avenue, and asking that suitable dumping grounds, levees,
spillways, and rights of way f.or the nece =ssary pipe line be furnished by
the City of Petaluma, - read and filed.
The I project was discussed and referred to the City Engineer and
City .Attorney for preparation of the necessary papers,
NEW BUSINESS:

introduced by Councilman Sedell,.seconded by Councilman Brown,
directing the Auditor and Treasurer to make the following transfers
to the General Fund for gasoline used by the various departments from
July lst, 1943 to A ril'' 30th, 1944:
Police Fund 9661.40;. Street Fund $490.50; Fire Fund $145.00;
Park Fund $9`7.00 ;, - -- 'adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.

the Auditor and Treasurer to make the following transfers:
From School Bond Fund to General Fund the sum of $80.67; from 1932
Mun:.. Im rovement Bond Fund to the 1944 Mun..Improvement Bond Fund, the
sum of p �"11.77.96; from the Alcohol Beverage Control Fund to the Police
Fund t'he sum,of $1041.25 from.the MCNe Park Fund to the Park Fund
the sum of $218.75; from the Wickersham Park Fund to the Park Fund the
sum of $31.25 - adopted by 6 affirmative votes, l absentee.
Councilman Penry reported that he and Park.Commissioner Wm. S
had viewed the property offered by Mrs.: Katherine Martin and had concluded
that the Park Commission or City of Petaluma has no use for it. The City
