ROLL CALL - Present: Councilmen Crown, De ss, King, Payers, Peary,, Seidell, and Mayor Woodson. READI14G OF THE JO UR_ NAL e m notes of the last regular meeting of September 18th were read and approved. as recorded. REPORTS OF OFFICERS: The monthly reports of the Auditor Wharfinger, Po;undmaster, Rodent Exterminator, Police Chief, Police Judge., and. City Treasurer, were read and filed. The annual :report of the Board of Health, and the annual report of the City Clerk and Auditor were placed on file REPORT OF S:T ANDING COMM ITTEES: _T ie Tinance, Comffffttee submitted its report, whereupon Resolution #5655 !O•S... introduced by Councilman Seidell, seconded by Councilman Brown, direct - ing the Auditor to draw warrants (Nos. 764 to 869 inclusive): against the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted'by '7 affirmative votes. Cavanagh, asking that Weller Street, for its, full length. between Washington St. and East ,D. Street, be established as of the uniform width of forty ..( feet, _read and filed.. a. Attorney Lewis Cromwell, who represents. the, petitioners, addressed the Council explaining the reason for the'petltion and r asking that the width of Weller St.., be established as 40 thereby,' establishing a property line The matter was referred _to t =he City Attorney and Street'Committee for investigatibn and report tack at the next meeting. S. introduced by Councilman King, seconded by Councilman Deiss, accept ing the resignation of Paul Zastrov.i,.as Police Radio 'Inspector, and .appointing James Alexander Sykes as official police -radio inspector, and that his salary be increased $30.00 per month" as of the date of the, adoption of this resolution, adopted by 7 votes. Re - State Aid for Civilian Defense: Resolution #5.657 C.S. introduced by Councilman Myers, seconded by Councilman Penry, auth- oriting, and directing the Mayor to apply to the - State of California, Dept. of Finance,. for aid :in the amount of A518.00 for Civilian Defense purposes, under the provisions of Chapt6i :805, Statutes 1943, and repealing Resolution #5.63`6 C.S...,dated July 24 1944, adopted by 7 -affirmative votes., Accepting work performe d b Paris Bros. ' Resolution #5658 C:.S. introduced by Councilman Brown, cseconded by Councilman Seidell,, accepting the work performed by Paris Bros. a copartnership,: - under the contract 'between the City of Petaluma, and said Paris Bros., dated July 25, 1944 and August 5, 1944.,, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Councilman Deiss reported on the re- roofing of the City Hall,,. stating that the bracing which. holds the bell has rotted away - and, that it will be adviseable to remove the bell as as labor is available for it. The matter wa left in the - hands of Councilman Myers to secure an estimate of cost for the work Mayor Woodson reported that the Superintendent of Streets had called his attention t,o the need for re-su, aciA rf . g. The matter was laid on the table pending further investigation. Councilman Deiss reported having met War Commission as, a -representative- of the City, and outlined some *of the ComM8_s plans for the employment and rehabilitation of war veterans.
