ROLL CALL: _ Present: Councilmen Brown,.06iss, King, Penry, Seidell, and Mayar Woodson. Absent :.Gouncilman lv;yers. READING OF THE JOURNAL: The minutes of the. :last regular meeting of Nov. 6, 1044, were read an-d - approved as recorded. REPORTS OF OFFICERS: The report of the Librarian for the month,of October, 1944, was read and filed. REPORTS OF S TANDIN G COMMITTEES.- The finance committee submitted its report, whereupon Resolution #5663 C.S` introduced by'Councilman King seconded by Councilman S,e dell,,, directing the Auditor to draw warrants (Nos, 118.9 to 1308 inclusive) against the . various City Funds in payment of claims: allowed and approved by the Fnancd Committee, adopted by '6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.. PETITIONS. AND COMIMI.C,ATIONS: s ' Re ­; Act ds for Hospitality House: Communication from The Army and Navy Recreation Committee re funds for the operation of the ,Hospitality House for 1945, read .and placed on file. In this connection City Attorney Brooks reported that he had recently conferred with Mr. Berg of the Federal Works Administration, who had express- ad himself as being well pleased with the, operation of the Petaluma Hospit- ality House and believed "that due to the increased war activity in t he Pacific area,that there was a definite need for the continuation of'the Hospitality _House In Petaluma. However., he said that every .effort should be made to secure a substantial, local contribution toward the cost of said Hospitality House.. It was the conclusion of the members of the City Council that there are no funds available for this purpose. The'City Attorney was requested to prepare the necessary budget and application for funds to operate the Hospitality House for a six months period beyond December '310t, 1944. OF THE .CITY OF PETALUMA AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 513 C.S., COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE; ZONING ORDINANCE, BY ADDING SECTION 11A THERETO PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF A FEE IN THE SUM OF FIFTY AND'N:0/109 (450.00) DOLLARS FOR FILING A PETITION FOR A VARIANCE OR FOR ANY ZONE CHANGES,." was read, approved by.the City Attorney, and Resolution X5665 C.S. introduced by Councilman Penry, seconded by Councilman Brown, direct ing that said or be published in the Petaluma Argus- Courier, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. NEW BUSINESS: '' ` Resolution #566 C. S. introduced by Councilman King seconded by Councilman Deiss, increas ing the salary of Joseph Ramos to the sum of $175.00 commencing. December 1.,. 1944, adopted, by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentees. Mr; Cliff Asbell, President of the Petaluma 20 -30 Club, presented a plan f'or the erection of an "honor roll" plaque of service in either Hill Plaza or Walnut Park. The matter was referred to the Park -, Commission for consideration. Councilman Brown reported that the dredger had arrived and is already at work. He also reported that the - Civil Aeronautics Commission has allocated $23.,000, to Petaluma for an airport as a post war project and that City Engineer Gonzalez has prepared an official map of Kenilworth Park and presented it to the commission. Councilman .Deism. reported that he had been. contacted by Paul Paye of, te heWar trns M ae Commissioativerto the city furnishing ambulance p veterans to the U:S. Veterans t Hospital in San Francisco under a plan whereby the Veterans Administration would allow a'minimum of 5. toward the expense: No definite action taken on the suggestion but Mayor- Wood,s pointed out that ambulance service would be 'available for all emergencies: and that each case would be handled as it was presented r . The matter of adopting a resolution providing for acceptance of the "mutual aid" plan as recommended by Toland C. McGettgan of the California War Council was discussed and referred to the City Attorney for preparation of - the necessary resolution.
