Postwar projects.:
Mr Leigh Shoemaker,, Chairman of the Community BotIterment
,Committee, of the LiOns Club, addressed the City Council,, pr'el8ent-
ing the findings; of a large group of citizens representing. various
,
organizations, with regard t P'LoSt war projects as liVin war
memorials for the City of Petd Hex accompanied his rem-altks�
with a let-1er containing the list of projects submitted by the
Gom.mi'ttee and those Which received the first, second , and third
choice. of the group., 'The project, li's ted as first choice of
the group is that of a large City Auditorium and a City Hall to
be erected by the City of Petaluma., and a gymnasium and swimming
pool to be erected by the High School ..District.
- Mr. Payson Clark. and Mr. Norman Van Beb.ber of the, Lions
Club. also addressed the Council on behalf of the postwar
:proJects.
Mayor Woodson thanked the Committee for their efforts on
b'ehalf' of the coTmtunity, and referred the recommended ppoJects
to the City-Council forc
. Councilman kiftg, called attention to Cali saembly' ',Zill 427-and
S'enate Bill 625 re increase of the Cf State. Sales Tax
to 3¢ �- the difference between the pre sent rate of 22 L and
3� tp b appropriated to Cities for assistance in P ost-war
projects. This matter was referred to the City Attorney for
study of the bills.
