Regular meeting of the Council of' the City of Petaluma called
to order by Mayor Woodson.

"READING OF.THE. ' JOUFNAL:
The minutes the' lust regular meeting of March 5th, 1945, were
read and approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
The monthly report of the Librarian was read and filed.
REPORTS OF STANDING CbMMI'TTEES:
- The - F` n nce Committee submitted its report, whereupon
Resolution #5093 C.S.
introduced b y C ouncilman seconded by Councilman Brown..,
directing the Auditor to draw warrants (Nos.. 2246 to 2374 inclusive)
a gainst the various City Funds inpayment claims allowed And
, approved by the Finance, Committee., adopted. by 6 affirmative votes
1 absentee.

Employment Service calling attention to program at the American Legion
Hall on March 2,2 '1945, at which time films of 'The 'Battle of Britain
and D®Dayy will be shown and inviting the Council and City Officials
to attend the meeting, read and filed..
Telegram f rom, Henry J.. Kaiser,, Chairman of' the United National
Clothing Gollection asking 'that a local. chairman be, appointed and.
u=rging every citi-ten to pdrtitipate in the driyeJ or used clothing
for the ' people of the war devastated countries, read and filed.
Mayor Woodson announced that Mr,. C. W. Carpenter had,accepted the

Chairmanship f or the C ity of for the dfive.,
NEW BUSINESS:
i City Tf Brooks -reviewed some of the bills now pending before
the Legislature - particularly Assembl y Bill 427 and Senate Bill 625"
for an increase in sales tax to raise funds, for post war projects.
Attorney Brooks pointed out that such projects"wbuld have to be of
State interest in order .to qualif y for funds under bills and he
did not believe ieve, that many of the proposed -projects -- would come under
this category. N o action taken..
City Engineer Gonzalez reported that different groups of City
Officials from Santa Rosa and San Rafael have visited our sewage
treatment plant with a view toward building similar systems in their
ci ties 4 He complimented the Superintendent - of Streets for the
efficient manner in which the plant is being operated and maintained.
Councilman Penry reported that Mr. Mark Hein to buy the
oil tank now being used by the County. The matter was taken under
advi sement . -
