against the various City Funds in payment of claims .allowed and
approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 7 affirmative votes:- -
NEW BUSINES
Mrs,. Mabel Furrows thanked the City Council for the
co- operation given the R. W. 'Burrows Co., during its 25 years of
business in this City, and stated that said'. business has been
sold to a very .reliable and wealthy corporation which will
operate it as a credit to the community.• Mayor Woodson expressed
the appreciation of the City to Mrs. Burrows: for the- contribution
the R. - W. Burrows Co. had made t the business life of this 'City.: -
Mayor Woodson pointed that. Mr:. C. W. Carpenter,
Chairman of the Unite'd Nations -Clothing Drive, has opened the
drive fo;r used .clothing in this City and outlying districts, and
urged that every citizen co- operate in this effort to p.royde .
clothing for devastated war 'areas.
