READING OF THE JOURNAL:
The minutes OT the last regular meeting of April 2nd, 1945,
were read and approved as recorded.
'RE-PORTS OF OFFICERS:
The: month Ty of the Librarian was read and filed.
REPQRTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES,:
The Financa C-ommi'tt:ee submitted its report,. whereupon
Resolution 05695 C.S.
ifttroduded by Councilman King seconded by Councilman Seildell directing
the Auditor to draw warrants �Nos,. '25 to 2638 inclusive) against tha
various Cit Funds in" merit of claims allowed and approved by the
Finance '. Committee adopted by '6 affirmative votes,, 1 absentee.

(.Tommunlcation from THe. Central. Labor Council of Pet&luma,
asking that representatives from -the City Council attend a conference
: at, , Carpenter's Hall on Monday,.., April 23rd ' at �8 p..m. to discuss ways
and mec�n8, of mobilizing Petaluma to combat the .Black Market' menace,
r 'ead . an f i le d,.. Mayor Woodson appointed Councilman William.Djiss
and Councilman John King to represent the City of Petaluma at said
meeting.
Summer recreation program funds:
Gommunicat-ion from Leslie W. Gan-yard, Se,cretary of the
Rosenberg F regarding 6 summer recreation program for the
children of this community for which prograM the I Rosenberg Foundation
has 'offered to provide $500 . to be matched, by a like amount from the
:City, an . d .- - stating that the I Foundation is willing t�o recognize the
recently organized Youth Council as the Joint committee to administer
said fuftd read and filed.

the sum of $500, from the General Fund, which 'together with the sum- of
$500 .. to be deposited by the Rosenberg Foundation, ' , Will be used for the

the,supervision.. control and mana of the Park Commission and
requesting that said Rosenberg Fouz-_1 deposit said sum of 500® with
the ;Trea'surer of' this City adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee®
Resurfacing of &3rd Sts:

ande;s ima - ting the cost of re-surf acing: Main & 3rd Streets f rom City
Limits to - City Limits., and submitting a statement of available funds.,

A discussion was had regarding the necessity of resurfacing -
the Highway 'through Petaluma it b agreed that the street is in
bad condit-ion and that 'resurfacing should b.e done as soon as possible.
It was pointed out that resurfacing the highway for its entire
length will, cost 'in the neighborhood of $50 000- that there is available
in the 1/4� for State Highways :Fund, only $,i4,,,9 _6 0 for this purpose, and
that 'the balance for this work would 'h 'av e to be taken out of accumulated
funds'for.'the 1/4¢, for Streets -of Major Importance Fund. Councilman
King objected to the spending of Major City Street Funds on the State
Highway, and ex rassed the opinion that the cost of maintaining the
expressed i -
highway above 'what' is - a llot-et to" 'the C1,ty - for this 'purpose. should
..met by the 'Divisi of -- Highways'.
Mayor Woodson st he will request Col. Skeggs or his
.representative to, c ome to f or conference on the matter with
the City Council.

Supt'. of Streets Oscar Glahn, reported.._ that hiss d�epartmen ;t
has just completed the _removal of the black -out' paint from the
street lights of the"'city.
