ROLL C.ALL:. resent: Councilmen Brown,, Deiss,,'King, Myers, Penry, Seidell., and May0r INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES,:' General Election Ordinance: Ordinance N 595 G.S. in'troduced by'Councilman Brown seconded by Councilman Seidell,, entitled "AN' ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR T1-1E HOLDING OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION"IN THE CITY' OF PETALUMA., FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING CERTAIN CITY OFFICERS. ", was read approved by the City Attorney, and '5699 C.E. Resolution f, introduced by Councilman Brown, seconded 'by Councilman Se dell, direct- ,ing that said Ordinance be published in the Petaluma Angus-'Courier for the p6tiod, required by the City Charter and the Election Laws of the State of California .within sufficient time to permit the adoption thereof at the regul'ar.meeting of the Council. on Monday, the 7th da y of May, 1045, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. ` I J,. Clarence Felci' o an , Architect for the Post-war Projects,, addressed the, City Counqi,l, preliminary plans and estimates of cost for the proposed City Hall and the Recreation Building and Auditorium.. He stated that he had .,prepare d'hi s plans after consultation with. City Officials and citizens lnt'ere8-ted in 'the Recreation Building, and Auditorium and that after outlining the suggestions given.. him for both buildings he estimated the, cost for the , City Hall to be $200,,000. and forithe Recreation, Building and Auditorium $220,000. A, discussion was, had regarding_ the, approximate cost of a site for the two 'buildings and it was agreed that the sum of $100,000. be 'estimated for the acqui of a- site and that 'the two buildings - should be placed on the same block of land,t form the nucleus of.a Civic C?ehter4 It was further agreed that the construction of a. City Hall and a Recreation Building and Auditorium and.the acquisition of a site for said buildings should b combined and presented to the voters as one proposition.. Councilman Deiss., and - 'Cbtmc , :-lman�Miyors,were excused from'the meeting J at this time. Resolution #5698G.15. in-trodp'ced by, Councilman King.,, seconded by Councilman Brown entitled,,, "RESOLUTION OF PUBLIC I INTEREST AND NECESSITY!', determining that the ubl'ic interest and necessity demands the 'acquisition of a site and the cons - traction and completion thereon of a City Hall and,'Administration Building, and als,o, - the constrwtilon and, completion on said site of a building for and dccupa,tion, as an Auditorium Convention Hall,.. Armory.,, and Recreation Center,, and estimating the cost of said site 'and buildings to be the,sum of $520,,000Q00.. adopted by the following votes-: AYES: Councilmen Brown., King,,, POnry,, Seldell, and Mayor Woodson.
