May 21, 1545.-
Regular meeting of „the Council of the City of Petaluma calked to
order by Mayor Woodson.
ROLL CALL:
Present: Councilmen.Brown, Deiss, King, Penry, Seidell, and
Mayor Woodson.
Absent: Councilman Myers.
READING OF THE JOURNAL:
The minute of the last - regular meeting of May 7th, the special
meeting of May 10th, and the adjourned meeting of May 11th, were read
and approved as recorded.
REPOR 1OF OFFICERS:
Me month y report- the Librarian was read and filed.
The Clerk reported the filing of Affidavits of Publication of
Amended Ordinance No. 595 C.S.; Ordinance No 596 C.S.; Notice of
Nominees for Public Office and Measures to be voted on; and Notice
of El'ection..

the Auditor to draw warrants Nos. 2818 to,2906 inclusive) against the
varlous City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the

Memorandum of Agreement to provide for the expenditure of
1/4¢ gas tax fund on State Highways for the 1945 -47 biennium in

Communication from the State Division of 'Highways relative to
the resurfacing of State Highway Route #1 thru Petaluma, stating that
the "Department has no available funds for this work other than that in the
1/4¢� gas tax fund for State Highways allocated to the City of Petaluma,
and suggesting that said amount of $14,000. now in said fund, be buage te.d
to repair and resurface approximately 2000 fe of the street, read and

introduced by Councilman Penry,, seconded by Councilman Brown
donating and contributing, the sum of $50.00 to the United Spanish,
War Veterans for the promotion of the Memorial Day Services in.

In connection with the Memorial Day Exercises, Councilman
Wm. Deiss, on behalf of the. 'United Spanish American - War Veterans
thanked the Council for its contribution.and extended an invitation
to the of the Council and City Officials to atte'nd'the
exercises at Walnut Park on May 30th.
Councilman John, King suggested that be made to publicize
the proposed bond issued that will appear on the June 12th ballot
and that the cost, to thez taxpayers for said bonds be presented
to the public,. Mayor Woodson reported that sketches of: the
,buildings will be displayed for the general public to view and
that articles will be written for the information. of the voters.
Councilman Stanley Se-idell, Chairman.of'the Sanitation
Committee,, informed the Council that has recent investigation
had revealed that considerable rubbish and organic matter-are
being dumped on the roadways at the City Dumps in violation of the
rules. Councilman King suggested that it might be a' zolution
to the problem if the roadway were built to a higher level
and the .refuse dumped over 'the sides. The :matter was taken
unider `further consideration,.
- City Attorney Brooks reviewed the proposed contract bbetween.
the 'City of Petaluma and J. Clarence Felciano, Architect for the
post -war pro.jac'ts- which contract was approved by the members of
Council with the exception of the clause g
the: City p pertaining to
an exclusive 3 year contract with the architect.. The City
Attorney was asked to review -,the contract with the 'Architect,.,
Councilman Seidell suggested that it might be possible to
secure, the services of one of the qualified radio operators
at Two Rock Ranch on a partime basis. He was :asked to check
this matter with the proper Officer.
