READING OF THE JOURNAL: The - minu a "s' - ' o 'f' the last regular meeting of January 18th, the . ad j our= ned meeting *of January 22nd and the special meeting of January 25th were read and approved. as recorded® REPORTS. OF CITY OFFICERS : The monthly .reports of the Police Judge, City Wharfinger, Auditor and Treasurer were read and filed.. The Clerk reported'the filing of Affidavits of Publication of Ordinances i#289 and 290 and the Affidavits of,,Postng of Ordinances #291 and 292. .City Attorney Howell reported. in re. MeNear claim for $60. per annum for privilege of sewering into the canal slip, reading extracts from the abstract showing that the MaNear Co. had received in.addition`to the 450. per annum, -deeds for several streets . 'The .City Attorney was directed to investigate the matter further City Attorney Howell also reported having attended the hearing of. of the Railroad Commission re the application of the; water company for an. increase in rates - Said hearing was continued until May 25th The Mayor- reported on the meeting of the League of Cafifornia Municipalities called for the purpose of protesting the meter troll rate of 32, cents which is to go in effect in the City of Los Angeles., The Mayon stated 'that the City of Los Angeles, has raised the sum of 075, to fight the and has secured the services of t1e attorney who was victorious in winning the fight against the telephone company in the City of Pittsburgh. Attorney G.P. Hall, in behalf of Miss. Ida 'Perinon, addressed the Council•,' against the adoption of this ordinance. On motion by Councilman, Farrell, w seconded by Councilman Rieerts, the ordinance was laid on the table and on f motion by Councilman Jessen, seconded by , Councilman Ingerson, the matter° of zoning this particular district was' re- referred to the City Planning Commission. Ordinance Roe 292 C.S. introduced b Councilman Gie ssen, seconded by Councilman Van. Bebber, appropriating and setting aside the sum of 07000 for the purchase of necessary rights of way and costs of making out of Petaluma River Channel, came up regularly and was adopted by 7 affirmative votes. NEW.j'BUS,INESS :_ - Wilson St., Sewer: The matter of the hearing on the VIJ lson St. sewer improvement was continued until the :next regular meeting.. This being the time set , fo:r.the opening of' bids for the doing of the work° of making the Petaluma 'River Cut the Clerk re:port;e'd having .received no bids, and Resolution # 3251 C.S. introduced by 'Councilman Farrell, seconded by Coon "c lman Van Bobber, directing the Clerk.to re ®advertise.for bids ,. was adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Gasoline: Councilman Van Webber 'brought up the matter of the various companies supplying the City with gasoline., suggesting: that a, co,.ntrac;t be entered into in order that the City might benefit by a contract price.- On motion by Councilman Jessen, seconded by Councilman Van - Bobber, theo matter was taken under advisement.' Councilman Van Bobber, Chairman of the Finance: Committee, reported that the Rock Crusher is 'being run at a financial loss to "the City, whereupon Resolution #3252 C.&..- introduced by .Councilman Jessen, seconded by Councilman Glahn, asking that ,a committee be,app:ointed to investigate ° as 'to the advisability of the continued operation of said rock crusher and that said oommittes be authorized and•empowered.to employ an expert geologist, adopted by 7 affirmative, votes. The Mayor appointed Councilmen Farrell, Ingerson and J.6ssen on said committee. The Mayor appointed 'hire. Helen M. Peoples as a member of the City Planning Commission., whereupon Resolution #325 °3 C.S. introduced by Councilman. Van. Bobber, second by Count lman Farrell, ratifying confirming and approving said appointment, -adopted by 7 affirmative votes. The matter .of a street light at English St reet and We °.stern Avenue was re;fe.rred to the Street Committee with.,power to -act: The matter of a drain pipe on the Lerer Bldg on East Washington Street was referred to the Plumbing Inspector. Mr. J. Dupon addressed the Council, stating that the racetrack at.Kenilworth Park s'being badly cutup by automobiles driving over it at this time of year.: �Re`sreet to the Park Commission.
