They compliment our city and have many benefits to both our environment and local habitat. We must honor our protected and heritage/landmark trees. I would like to educate the public about these trees and Petaluma's preservation programs. I think we can use social media to do so. We should work with Arborists and tree surgeons to promote tree health and. save distressed trees whenever possible. We also need to clear dead and dying trees that can cause potential hazards, and make the public aware of how to deal with them (or who to call). Petaluma residents also need greater awareness of their responsibilities for trees on their property. We must be sensitive and mindful doing tree removal and disposal. Are there materials that can be reused or compliment another project? It's also important that we are thoughtful about what trees we plant and where, in an effort to maintain balance with nature. We should be making better use of social media to inform the public. Petaluma has a robust public information infrastructure and options to stay informed (email lists, posted agendas, the ability to stream meetings online), however, most residents aren't aware that these options exist and Petaluma needs to be mindful of new innovations in technology and media to go to where the public interest is. We also need to build bridges to engage residents who do not participate in local government due to work, scheduling, disabilities, or other issues. Is there any other information that you feel would be useful to the City Council in reviewing your application? Even though I consider myself current, I do have an appreciation for old technology and I'm aware of the challenges involved in persuading people to adapt to something new. I'm also very interested in public safety as it relates to technology, both involving emergency crisis management and the safety of new technolgies such as 5G cell towers. 37 Are you associated with any Organization/Employer F hat might be deemed a conflict of interest in _ . o . .. i vour i.uties if appointed to this position? i 31 If so, please state name of Organization/ Employer: 9 City policy directs all appointed advisory body members not to vote on matters where there exists a potential conflict of interest. They compliment our city and have many benefits to both our environment and local habitat. We must honor our protected and heritage/landmark trees. I would like to educate the public about these trees and Petaluma's preservation programs. I think we can use social media to do so. We should work with Arborists and tree surgeons to promote tree health and save distressed trees whenever possible.
