ROLL CALL: Councilmen present: Glahn, Ingerson, Riewerts, Van Bebber and Mayor Sales. Absent:'Councilmen Farrell and Jessen. PETITIONS AND COT,TIUNICATIONS: App scat o on from Lerer & Sons for a building permit at 17 E Washington Street,'read and filed, and Resolutiox {336:9 C.S. introduced by Councilman Glahn, seconded by Councilman Riewerts, granting said application and directing the City Clerk to issue. a building permit for same, adopted by 5 affirmative votes, 2'absentees. Communication from Mrs. C. W_. Hollowa .* regarding the `parking of large'truths on Main and Kentucky Streets, read, filed and referred to the Chief of Police. NEW .,B.USI NES`s This being the time set for hearing protests on E. "D" Street, the Clerk reported that no written protests had been filed. However, 11Iss Teresa Murray, a property owner, appeared before the Council and called attention to the fact that the walks had been left in a very unworkman-like manner, with rocks and other debris piled on them. Where - upon the City Engineer was directed to see that the contractors clean up the street and leave it in the same condition in which they found it. The hearing was continued until„ the next regular meeting of the Council. Broadway St. The matter of the opening of Broadway into Western Avenue was discussed at length and the Council appointed a committee of a whole to investigate the possibilities of opening said street. Mayor . Sales,re,ported the generous gift of Wm Sylva in offering to the City a wedge shaped piece of land 'at the corner of Upham and Bodega Avenue; •wher.eupon Resolut=ion 1 3371 C.S. introduced by Councilman Riewerts, seconded by Councilman Ingerson., accepting said piece of land -and directing the City Engineer to make a survey and estimate of cost of resetting curb and repaving.sidewalk, etc., adopted by 5 affirmative votes, 2 absentees.
