Regular meeting of the Council of;the.City of Petaluma called
to order by Mayor Sales e
ROLL CALL:
Councilmen present: Farrell, Glahn, ,Ingerson, Jessen, Riewerts,
Van Bebber and Mayor :Sales.
READI OF THE JOURNAL:
e minutes of the last regular meeting of November 15th and
the adjourned meeting of November 24th were read and approved as record-
ed,
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICE
e money reports of the Auditor and Treasurer, Police Judge,
and City Wharfinger were read and filed.
The City Engineer reported the completion of the East "D' St.
Improvement to his entire satisfaction.. Filed.
The City Engineer submtted'estimate and sketch for the
improvement of the corner of ,Bodega and.Upham Street. Filed..
REPORTS OF STANDING COJtMITTEES:
The Finance Committee rendered its report of numerous claims
against the City, whereupon
',Resolution #3372 C.S.
introduced by.Councilman Glahn, seconded by Councilman. Jessen, directing
the Auditor to draw warrants against the various. City Funds in payment
of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee.

Appl .cation Trom t e Cochrane Lumber- Company for permission to
move their spur track easterly about 105 feet, read and filed.
Resignation of F. R.. Powell as. Poundman and Janitor of the
City of Petaluma read and. filed., and
Resolution #3373 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Ingerson, seconded by Councilman Riewerts.,
accepting said resignation, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Application of Nye and Nissen for a building permit in District
rr V! read and filed. After discussion on the matter a. committee consiat-
ing of Councilman Riewerts, Farrell and the members of the Fire Board
was appointed to investigate and report back at the next meeting.
ADOPTION OF ORDINANCES':
Or finance No. 306 C.S. introduced by Councilman Farrell.;
seconded by Councilman Van Bebb_er, prohibiting the use of gasoline stoves
or heaters in the City of Petaluma, etc., came up regularly and was
adopted by 7 affirmative' votes.
NEW BUSINESS: .

improvement and no further protests having been filed,
Resolution Confirming proceedings and Ordering Warrant #3374 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Jessem, seconded by Councilman Glahn., was
adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Resolution #3375 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber,
granting the application of the Cochrane.Lumber Co. for permission to
move itsi:spurtra.ck, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Resolution #3376 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Ingerson, seconded by Councilman Riewerts,
appointing and employing F. A. Burton as poundma °ster and janitor,
adopted by 7 affirmative votes. In this regard Councilman Ingerson
stated that he believed the purchase of a small car"for the use of the
poundman, and the disposal of the horse and wagon now in, the department,
Would be a'good arrangement, whereupon Councilman RieirJe Farrell and
Ingerson were appointed a committee of three with power to act.
The application of the Campfire Girls for permission to place
tables on the sidewalks in order to conduct a Christmas sale was referred
to the Chief of Police.

The matter of a street light. on Keokuk Street was referred to the
Street Committee.
Ike s olution #3377 C, S .
introduced by Councilman,Glahn,. seconded by Councilman Jessen, accepting
the offer of Wm'. Sylvia for the conveyance of a triangular shaped piece of
land at the corner of Bodega Avenue and Upham Street and directing that
said work be done under the supervision of the Street Committee and. Supt.
of Streets, adopted by '7 affirmative votes.
The City Attorney wa,s authorized to subscribe to the American City
magazine.
The matter of the opening of Broadway Street was continued until
the next regular meeting.
Mr. Conner appeared before the Council and asked for a temporary
building permit for the construction of a brooder house at the corner of
Prospect and Bodega Avenue. On motion by Councilman Van Bebber, seconded
by Councilman Farrell, the Council was appointed a committee of the whole
to investigate the situation.
C Street:
Mayor a.ales reported that the property owners on Copeland'Street
wished the same improved to its full width and that it was the consensus of
opinion that said improvement be done onaa front foot basis, whereupon -/p"3378 G.S.
introduced by•Couftcilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber,
directing the City Engineer to prepare•plans and specifications and estimate
for said improvement, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Mr. B. Schneider, representing the Lions Club, presented a sketch
of the proposed bandstand which.is to be constructed and presented to the
City by the said Lions. Club. The matter was referred to'the Music
Commission for approval and recommendations, it having already been approved
'by the Park Commission.
The Street Committee and Street Superintendent were instructed to
investigate .the removal of curbing from in front of service stations,
after it had been reported that autoists drive over the sidewalks near
these stations to the danger of pedestrians. The matter of parking cars
in the Western Avenue alley was referred to the Chief of Police.
It was reported that numerous cars are being parked on the Bridge
Street sidewalk, whereupon the City Engineer was directed to report back
at .the next regular meeting as to the need of a sidewalk on said street.
Mr. J. J. Peterson complained.o:f the manner in which the firemen
test the hydrants, stating that at the hydrant near his home damage has been
caused to the street from water being turned di- rectly on the same. Referred
to the Board of Fire Commissioners.
