Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to order by Mayor Sales. ; A ROLL CALL -: Councilmen present: Farrell, Glahn Ingerson, Jessen, Riewerts, Van Bebber,. and 'Mayor Sale .READING THE JOURNAL:. The m'nu es OF a last regular meeting of January 17th and the adjourned meeting of January 21st were,read-and .approved as recorded. REPORTS OF ChTY OFFICERS: The .mon y repbr of the Auditor and Treasurer, Potuldman, City Wharfinger and Police Judge were read and filed. The report of the S "treet committee regarding sunken curbs at the various gas stations sand regarding the culvert on Webster Street, read and filed. REPORTS-OF STANDING COMMITTEES: ' e F nance omm ee rendered its :report, of numerous claims against the City, - whereupon.' Resolution #3406 C ®.S introduced by Councilman Jessen, seconded-by Councilman Riewerts, directing the Auditor todraw warrants against the various City Funds . in - payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. PETITIONS. -AN.D GOMMUNICATIQNS: Resolution 'from Me 'Waugh Farm Genter'.asking for help in the matter of exterminating the rat 'plague, read and filed.. ADOPTION OF ORDI - NANCES: Ordinance No. 0 C.S. establishing the grade of Bridge 'Street came up 'regularly for adoption. Councilman Farrell stated that property owners on said street should be ,shown exactly °where the new grade is to be before the ordinance is..adopted, whereupon.,the ordinance was laid .over until the :next r.egular.-..mee.ting. NEW BUSINESS Raney ppty: Attorney F. A. Meyer ,addressed the Council in behalf of G..M.Raney, regarding the•Raney property on Main and Oak Streets, offering to convey to the City a strip of land of about 2 feet on Oak Street, which is covered by his building; and has been for A good many years, in exchange for the right to set his building out- on.Main. Street on the line of his property. as shown by. the Stratton map. Mr -. Meyer- suggested that a friendly action- be brought, to quiet title with.the understanding that as soon as'he is. given poAs:ession of the Main Street strip he - and his wife will deed the Oak Street strip to the City by quit claim deed,. The matter was referred to the City Attorney and Street Committee for investigation and recommendat- ion. Copeland Street.: This being the time set for hearing protests regarding the improvement of Copeland Street, the Clerk'rep:ort °ed that no written protests had'been 'filea. In this matter Attorney G.P.Hall,appeared in behalf of Cam & 'Hedges,, stating, that the property owners should be conferred with and some understanding arrived.at as to the best solution to the situation, that they are not opposing prog- -fes -s but that they desire to meet conditions on a fair basis to all concerned.. After discussion, on motion regularly made and carried, °the hearing was continued until the next'regular meeting the. Council. The,C1-e.rk was directed to notify thetproperty owners of the continuation of the hearing. Batchelor Terrace The City Attorney'presented a deed from'D,. W. Batchelor conveying 'property known. as Batchelor Ter-ra.ce. The matter was discussed at length and laid over until the next regular meeting. Councilman Glahn reported the need of new garbage cans for the Street Department. Referred to the Street C'ommi.ttee and Street Su pentend ent with power to act. 70 The matter of a pond of water 'on East D Street:, .between the bridge an ommi d dopeland Street was referred to the Street�G it tee and Street Superintendent. The matter of the rat pest was di,acuss;ed., the Mayor re that. he had, sent for Mr. 'Buhh, the State rodent control expert,to make a survey of the situation and that as soon as Mr. Buhn returned from Kern County he would come immediately to this field.
