Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called
to order by Mayor Sales.
ROL CALL':
Councilmen present; Farrell, Glahn, ingerson, Jessen, Riewerts,
Van Bebber and Mayor Sales.
READING OF THE JOURNAL:
The minu es of the last regular meeting of February 7th.were
read and approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF S^1ANDING COMMITTEES:
e Finance Commit ee rendered it's report of numerous claims
against the City, whereupon.
Resolution ,3407 C. S .
introduced by Councilman Jess.en, seconded by Councilman Riewerts,
directing the Auditor to draw warrants against the various City Funds
in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee,
adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATI.O:NS:
Commun cat on rom the City of Oakland extending an invitation
to attend the City Planning Conference to be Yield in Oakland March 4th
and 5th, read and filed and on motion by Councilman Farrell, seconded by
Glahn, Mayor Sales was -appointed a delegate to said convention to
represent Petaluma.
The Clerk reported bids on file from the Shell Co. and the
Union Oil Co. for furnishing gasoline to the City of Petaluma.
Petitions from property owners on Vallejo Street and Madison
Street., asking that said streets be improved with oil macadam, read and
filed.
Communication from W. S. Cooley, requesting that Howard Street,
Laurel Street, West Street and Cherry,Lane be improved read and filed.
Later brought up under the head of new business and referred to the
Street Superintendent and Street. Committee for investigation and report
back.
ADOPTION OF ORDINANCES,: o Bridge .Street Grade.
rdinan.c.e No. 307 C.S. introduced by Councilman Jessen,
seconded by'Councilman Van Bebber, establishing the grade of Bridge Street..
came up regularly but was voted down by 7 negative votes.
INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES;:
r inanee "No. 308 C.S. introduced by Councilman Ingerson,
seconded by Councilman Riewerts, establishing a new grade on said street,
was read, approved by the City Attorney and ordered posted..
NEIN BUSI NESS:
Copeland Street:
This being the c=ontinuation of the hearing on Copeland Street,
Resolution Overruling Protests #3408 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Ihgers.on, seconded by Councilman Riewerts,
adopted by 7 affirmative votes, and
Resolution #3409-C.S.
introduced by Councilman Jessen, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber,
rescinding Resolution of Intention #3396 C.'S. adopted by 7 affirmative
votes.
Permit of Dan McGovern revoked:
Dr. Rogers, Mr. Dresbach and Mr. Veale addressed the Council
'regard'ing the unsanitary condition in which Mr. McGovern keeps horses
at the premises in rear of .129. Liberty Street, Whereupon

introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber,
revoking Mr. McGovern's license and directing the City Attorney and Chief
of Police to abate said nuisance, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.

Resolution #3411 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman Jessen,
directing the.City Engineer to prepare,plans, specifications and
estimates for 'the improvement of Vallejo Street, from Madison. Street
to a point 350 ft northerly therefrom, and for the.improvement of
Mad,s'on Street from Edith to Vallejo Street,, adopted by 7 affirmative
votes.
The matter of accepting a deed from D. W. Batchelor for the
street running through Batchelor Terrace was discussed and the Mayor
stated that he believed_-a barricade should be placed across the,end
of .said street to remove any danger of cars.being driven into.the
creek, before a deed should be accept.e.d.
Dr. 'Rogers brought up the matter of septic tanks being built
on, Mt View Ave. property and requested that no permits be isfsued for
the placing of said tanks.
Mr". J. A. Kenney addressed the Council asking that an official
,grade be established on Mt. View Avenue in order that sewer and street
improvement might be proceeded with. Referred to the Street Committee
and City Engineer for investigation and recommendation.
The matter of street curbs around the oil service station on
Washington and Liberty Street was discussed,, the street. committee
recommending that certain parts of the curb be replaced.. On motion
by Councilman _Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van.Bebber, the
recommendations of the Street Committee were -accept,ed and the Street
Committee and Street Superintendent given power to act.
The Street, Committee and Street Superintendent were given power
to act in the, matter- of the sidewalk on 3rd Street, between I and K
Streets, which must be placed t,o grade.
Raney ppty:
`The City Attorney was authorized to advise Attorney'Meyer to go
ahead with a quiet title suit in the adjustment of the Raney property,
it being understood that all expense. Is to be borne by Raney.
