Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor Sales.
ROLL CALL:
'councilmen present: Farrell, Gl.ahn, Ingerson, Jessen, Riewerts,
Van ,Bebber and Mayor Sales.
READING OF THE JOURNAL.:
e - minutes of the last regularmeeting of March 21st were read
and approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFIC'IALS':
The monthly reports of the Auditor and. 'Treasurer,. Police Judge,
Poundman.and City Wharfinger were read and filed.
The City Engineer submitted.a list of the people residing outside
the City Limits who are sewer.ing into the City Sewers _Filed.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES
The Finance Gommittee rendered its report of numerous claims
against the City, whereupon
Resolution. #34.20 C..S.
introduced by Councilman Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman Glahn,
directing the Auditor to draw warrants against the various City Funds in
payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted
by 7 ,affirmative votes.
The Street Committee submitted a written report recommending 'the
purchase of a two ton dump truck for the street department. Filed.
The Committee was granted further time to investigate ways and means for
the purchase of said truck.
Mayor Sales reported having interviewed the Park Commissioners and
stated that the gum trees among the boundary line of Kenilworth Park -had
been ordered out.
PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS:
Applications from Chas. Tamangia and C. Carstensen for permi.ssion
to sell soft drinks read and filed, and
Resolution {3421 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Gl.ahn, seconded by Councilman Riewerts, granting
said applications, adopted by 7 affirmative votes,
Communication from H.. S. Edwards, protesting against laying a
sidewalk along his property on I Street, read and filed and referred to
the Street Committee and Street Superintendent with power to act.
Application from Foley & Burk for permission to exhibit in Petaluma
from May l6th to . May 21st, read and filed, and
Resolution #3422 C.S..
.introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber,
granting said application, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
5th Street opening:
Petition from property owners along Fifth Street from I to Mt.Vidw,
asking that steps be taken touvar-d opening said street, read and filed,
and on motion by Councilman Jessen, seconded by Councilman Farrell, the
City Engineer was directed - - -to pr.e.pare plans and specifications for the
extension and improvement of said street,.under the improvement act of
1925.
Referendum petition
The Clerk reported the filing of eleven petitions containing 314
signatures, asking that the matter of the creation of Acquisition and
Improvement District No. 1, be submitted to a vote of the people. In
this respect the City Attorney presented a written opinion, quoting
court.decisions in similar cases. On motion by Councilman Van Bebber
s.ec by Councilman Glahn, the petition was laid on the table.

INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES.-
Ordinance No.309.3. introduced by Councilman Ingerson, seconded
by Councilman Riewerts, amending Ordinance No. 296 'C'.S. to prohibit- the
crossing of 3rd or Main Streets by any' vehicle without first bringing

such vehicle to a standstill, at all streets B, Western Avenue
and Washington Street, was read, approved by the City Attorney and ordered '

NEW BUSINES
MT. VIEW SEWER DI'STRIGT:
It was agreed that the Councilmas a whole would meet and view the
contemplated sewer district for iIit. View Avenue.
Status of Edith Street:
The City Attorney reported.that..the termination of Edith Street on the
North is held in private ownership;;t Mr. McNear. having paid taxes on the
property for many years. - Mr. McNear, however, has agreed to grant an
easement for a storm sewer through said property. The City Engineer was
authorized to prepare a supplemental plan and estimate for the storm
sewer.

introduced by Councilman Jessen,.sec.onded by Councilman Glahn, setting
July lst,, 1927 as the time when all fees`for sewer connections must ba paid,
adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Mayor Sales, on behalf of the American Legion, invited the members of
the Council to attend the meeting of the Post on April 13th.
K Street:
The City Attorney reported having received a letter from H. K. Brainerd
of San Rafael relative to the status of K Street., Mr. Brainerd stated
#hat they are willing to give a deed to said land. The City Engineer
was directed to prepare a description for said purpose.
Councilman Ingerson brought up the matter of needed fire hydrants
in the vicinity of Liberty, Galland and Oak S- treets. Fire Commissioner
Newburgh reported that the hydrants had been orderedin but that it was
impossible to get any action from the water company. The matter was laid
over until the next regular meeting.
