READING THE JOURNAL:
The minutes o the last regular meetin.g.of Jul the
adjourned meeting, of July 25th were read..and approved as r,ecorded..

The month y 'reports of th Auditor and Treasurer, Po Judge and
City Wharfinger were read and filed.
The Clerk reported the filing of Affidavit of Publication of
Ordinance of Intention No. 2., also affidavit of posting of Ordinance No,..
318 C. S .
REPORTS 'OF STANDING COMMITTEES;
The Finance Comm iEtee rendered its report of numerous claims
against the Ci whereupon

introduced by Councilman Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman,Jess.en,
directing the Auditor to draw warrants against the, various City Funds in
payment of claims allowed and approved by °the ,Finance Committee, adopted
by 6 affirmative votes', 1 absentee. '
PETITIOif8 AND COMMUNICATIONS:

filed and on motion regularly made and carried the matter was ;referred to

NEW BUSINESS:

Representatives of the Golden Gate Stage Company asked that the
Council withdraw its'protest against the running of stages into San
Francisco in as much as it had withdrawn Ats ap.pli.cation for the handling
of packages and 'light freight.. The matter was discussed and
Resolution #3406 C.S
introduced by Council Farrell., seconded by Councilman Jessen, :rescind•-
ing the action previously taken. protesting to the application of the
Golden Gate Stage Company adopted by 6 affirmative votes, i, absente,e.
Represen of the Chamber Commerce were present and
addressed the C`ounci:l,, asking permission to hold the Egg 'Day Celebration.
at Kenilworth Park,.also requeated that no license f,ee be charged for
the ca-rnival which will be held at the Park. The matter was di:s,cuss:ed
and

introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Counciaman Van Bebber,
donating the sum of 150. - for the use of Egg Day Celebration, adopted by
6-affirmative votes, 1 absentee..
The matter of ai.cen:s fees for taxi cabs was discussed and on
motion by Councilman Jessen., seconded by Councilman Farrell; a. committee
was appointed to investigate and report back. The Mayor. appointed
Councilman. Van Bebber,,. Farrell . and Jessen on said .committee.

The .matter of opening 9th Street,and H-Street was lAid on the
table.
.-Mr. Brown, 'representing the public - utilities companies' ress
,add ed
the Council, stating that the companies were ready to proceed with the
removal of poles from certain streets under-the original plan. On
motion by Councilman Farfell., seconded by Councilman Van Bebber, it
was agreed that they proceed as originally outlinedand remove the
poles as ,far baek'as Liberty 'Street.
