Absent Councilman Ingerson READING OF'THE JOURNAL: T he minutes of fhe last regular meeting of August l,st were read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF CITY OFFICERS . Th e - City ngineer submitted an estimate and plan f or the con- struction of a concrete wall at the foot of B; Street. Filed and Resolution #3498 C.S. int- roduced-by Jes•sen, ssc.onded by Councilman Glahn, adopting said plans::and spec- ifi and referring said 'mpr,ovement work ,y to the Street Committee and Superintendent of Streets with.power t.o•act,•.adopted by 6 affirmative'v.otes�, 1 absentee. REPORTS OY STANDING COYMITTEES: Th F inance Committee rendered its: report of numerous claims against the City, whereupon Resolution #3499 C.S. introduced by" Councilman Glahn seconded by Gouncilman Jessen, directing the Auditor to draw warrants :against the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted•by & .affirmative votes,. 1 absentee The Committee appointed to investigate the license fees on taxi cabs reported it's recommendation that the present license fee be -maintained and that..no change be. made. in the: present - ordinance. On motion by Councilmani Glahn�, seconded by Councilman Riewerts.. the report* was. accepted and approved. NEW BUSINESS: StrepF paving - Distri.ct. Resolution #3502 C.S. introduced by Councilman Riewerts, seconded by Councilman. Glahn, . granti'ng the A. B. C.'Carnival permission to.exhibit in Petaluma on August 17th, adopted by 6 affirmative' votes, l absentee. The matter of laying sidewalks on the West tide of Webster Street was bro -q&t up; by- Councilman Farrell and referred to the Street Committee for investigation. The Street Superintendent and Street Committee" were instructed to investigate. the condition of the .:wharf along Petaluma 'River as t whether or not they be safe-for the Egg Day crowd. 5th S'treet�- -op`ening =' ' The C ty reported that the condemnation suit in the 5th. Street o:pepin.g' had been .filed and complaint and, summons served on the property - owners. Mr. Lsrson addressed the Council in this regard, asking that the City`hel.p; the district out to the extent of .1200.00, which would pay for the moving of two buildings now 'in the line of improvement. The matter was referred to the Finance Committee to.bring in recommenda- tions at the next- meeting of the Council. O11 D 1.07 { Property .owners in the vicinity of Hill Blvd. protested- against the erection of - chicken housea .in said neighborhood. The City Attorney stated that in compliance with the zoning ordinance, which in his ,opinion is in . full force and effect_, applications: for chl.chen houses in the residential sections should be refused'. The matter of establishing the 'grade on Keokuk - Street Extension was referred.to the Street Committee with power to act.
