Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to order by Mayor Sales, ROLL CALL ouncilmen present: Glahn, Ingerson, Jessen, Riewerts, Van Bebber and Mayor Sales. Absent :. Councilman Farrell. READING OF THE JOURNAL: The minutes of. the last regular meeting of September'19tb were read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS:. The mon y rep'or s of -the Wharfiriger, Auditor and Treasurer, and Police Judge wer -e read and filed. The City Attorney submitted a written report of the. convention of the League of California.T ities. Filed. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES,: The Finance Committee rendered its report of numerous claims against the City,, whereupon Resolution #3517 C.S. introduced by' Councilman Jessen, sec_onded'by Councilman Van Bebber, directing the Auditor to draw warrants on the-various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee; adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. The Street Committee asked for and were further time in which to report on "L" Street,. The City Engineer and Street Commitee were granted further time in which to're.port on District No. 4. PETITIONS AND CQMMNICATIONS : Communicati-on-fro City of Santa Rosa, inviting th City Council to the Seventh Annual Meeting of the Redwood Empire Association, read and filed and on. motion by Councilman Ingerson, seconded by Council= man Riewerts, the invitation was accepted. Petition from I. B. Raymond asking that the Council accept Raymond Avenue as an improved - street, read and filed, and Resolution #3618 C' . S . introduced by Councilman Glahn, seconded by Councilman Riewerts accept - ing said street; adopted by 6 affirmative votes, '.l absentee. Petition from property owners on Fifth Street, between J and Mt.View Avenue, asking permission to construct a six inch iron.-stone, pipe s - ewer, by private contract, read -, filed and Resolution #3.519 C'.S. introduced by Councilman Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman Jessen, granting said °application; adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCES: Ordinance No. 3 S. introduced by Councilman Jessen, seconded, by Councilman Glahn., establishing the grade of Keokuk Street from the southerly property line of Cherry Street to a point on the center line. of Keokuk Street, distant 700 feet northerly therefrom, was .read,: approved by the City Attorney and ordered posted. NETS BUSINESS : On mo ion by Councilman Jensen, seconded by Councilman Riewerts, the matter of investigating the grandstand at Kenilworth Park aato its safety was referred to the Buildings and Grounds Committee with power to act. The matter of repairing the roof on the dwelling at Kenilworth Park was also referred to the Buildings and Grounds Committee.. The matter of an abandoned lunch room on the corner of Bassett and Fair Streets, whi.ch.is a fire menace and n a very unsightly condition, was brought to the attention of the Council by Fire Commissioner New- burgh and on.motion by Councilman Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman Glahn, it was referred to the City Attorney. Monday,.. the '24th day of October, as the. date for hearing objections to the, said improvement, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Councilman Farrell entered the meeting at this point. On motion by touncilman.Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman Jessen, the matter of the City Rock- "Crusher was taken up and a lengthy discussion ensued. No action was taken and the matter was continued until the next meeting of the :Council. The Street Committee and. - El'ectrolier Committee were delegated to investigate the laying of conduit for electroliers alon , g.Washington Street ,and Western Avenue from Ifiain tocMbWard. and Fourth Street B to..Western Avenue.
