ROL :.CALL: Councilmen present: Farrell, Glahn, Ingerson, Jessen, Riewerts, Van Bebber and Mayor Sales. READING OF THE JOURNAL: - e m 'nu es or the last regular meeting of January 3rd and the Special Meeting of January 5th were ,read and.approved as recorded. REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS: The Clerk rep.or e`c. the filing of Affidavit of Publication re Notice to Bidders, Mt. View- Sewer Extension. and Affidavit of Posting of Ordinance No. 3'28 C.S. The report of the. Poundman for the month of December was read and filed. The City Engineer reported.the completion of 'Tunzi Parkway accord ing, to his plans and spe.cifi�cations and to his :satisfaction. Filed. REPORTS :OF STANDING COMMITTEE&: The Finance Committee rendered its report of numerous claims against the City, whereupon Resolution #3557 C_ . 5:., introduced by , Councilman Riewerts,, seconded by Councilman Ingerson, direct- ing Auditor to draw warrants on the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 7 affirma- tive votes. Linda Vista Street lights: The Street Commi'tte.e reported in favor' installing four street lights in Linda. Vista Subdivi,si•on. PETITIONS AND COMPAUNICAThONS: ewer Farm: Communication from Stephen B. Hoyt, agreeing to take charge of the City Dumps, read, filed and referred to the Buildings and - Grounds* Gommittee and the City Attorney to make.necessary arrangements and secure property now occupied by another tenant, Traffic Ordinance: y Petitions signed by 347 merchant's and residents, asking; that-the uni traffic ordinance, now under consideration,--provide for di agonal parking instead-.of parallel parking, read and filed. Members of the Chamber of Commerce were present and Mr. Goldman, Mr. George and Mr. Button addressed the Council advancing their reasons for advocating diagonal parking. The matter was discussed at length and the ordinance was referred back to the traffic committee,,to meet with the Chamber of Commerce,for recommenda,t phs and re- vamping .. INTR:ODUCTI.ON OF OR Ordinan No,. 3n .S, introduced. by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman-Van Bebber, .establishing the, grade of Mt. View Avenue from its intersection with the easterly, boundary of the City of Petaluma -to its intersection with the southerly boundary of-the City of Petaluma, was read, approved by the City Attorney and ordered posted. Ordinance No: 330 C.S. introduced by Councilman Jessen; seconded by Councilman Van Bebber, regulating the business of dealing in ice cream at retail or wholesale, imposing a license tax upon such business, etc., was read, approved by the City Attorney and ordered published. NEW BUSIN :.Mt. View Sewer Extension,-- This b eing. the time set for openi bids for the Mt. View Avenue sewer extension, the Clerk reported having received one bid from J. B. Silva 'in the total amount of :;7710.95, whereupon Reso`luti . #3558 C.S. introduced by Clounci,lman Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman Farrell, award- ing the contract for said work to J. B. Silva., adopted by 7 affirmative votes. R'e- zoning Holm property: The City Planning Commission filed written report regarding the re- °zoning of property of Adeline C. Holm, recommending that said property be- re--zoned from residence property to business property. On motif 30 by councilman Jessen, s;econded..by Councilman.Riewerts, the report of the Planning Commission was accepted. Ordinance C.S. :introduced by Councilman Jessen, seconded by Councilman Riewer.ts, providing for said re- 'zoning' Wa.s read and approved by the City Attorney but after a lengthy discussion.on the matter and after attorneys for both sides of the case. were heard, the matter was laid over until the adjourned-, meeting of the Council on January 18th, Acquisition & Impt Dist No. 1 Res:oluti on #3559 C . S.. introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded - by Councilman Van Bebber, fixing time and place for hearing on acceptance of work and issuance of bonds in the above matter, 'adopted by 7 affirmative votes. The ,matter of purchasing a street sweeper for the Street Department'-was brought up by Councilman Farrell 'and. referred to - the Street Committee and Street Superintendent for investigation as to cost The matter iof removing a driveway now unused at Mlain. Street, near Mary referred to the Street Committee with power to .act. -The widening of Fair Street wa discussed, it being explained that the-school board has not the power to buy the necessary:land. was decided to hold a conference with the owners and see what price can be s <ecured.
