August 20th, 1928.
Regular 'meeting of the Council ofthe City of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor Sales.
ROLL CALL.:
Councilmen present: Farrell, Ingerson, Jessen, Riewerts, Van Bobber
and Mayor Sales.
Absent: Councilman Pendleton.
READING OF THE JOURNALr +

meeting of August 10th were read' and approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS:
The monthly repo r of-the Poundman was read and filed..
The Clerk reported the filing of affidavits of publication of
Notice of Award-of Contract 5th St., Notice Inviting Sealed-Proposals
Telephone Alley; and Notice to Bidders Keokuk St. Grading; also affidavit
of posting of- Ordinance No.. 342 .C.S.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:
The Finance Comm ee sub mitted its report of numerous claims
against the City, whereupon

introduced by Councilman Van Bobber, seconded by Councilman Jessen,
directing the to draw warrants against the various City Funds
inpayment of- claims allowed and approved by the.Finance Committee, adopted
by 6. affirmative •votes, 1 absentee..
The Finance Committee.reported on the purchase of a street sweeper.
Filed. Later taken up under the head of new business and on motion
by Councilman •Jessen.,:se.conded.by Councilman Farrell, it was decided that
the.various . sweeper representatives be invited to bring their
- machines to` Petaluma for a- public demonstration. `

Or, nance No. 6,47 C.S...introduced Councilman Farrell; seconded
by Councilman.Van'Bebber, regulating the.accumulation, collection and
disposal of garbage and rubbish in the City of Petaluma was read,, approved
by the City Attorney and ordered posted.
ADOPTION - OP. ORDINANCES:'

Councilman Van - Bebber, appropriating and setting aside the sum of $600.
for the grading` =of Keokuk St. came up regularl and was adopted by 6
affirmative votes, 1 absentee.

This being the time for opening bids for the improvement of
-Telephone Alley, the Clerk reported having received three bids and proceeded
to open and read, said b ids., whereupon
Resolution #3753 C.S.
introduced by =Councilman. Riewerts, seconded by Councilman Ingerson, award -
ing the contract to A. Schlunegar, he*being the lowest responsible bidder,
adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee.

St. the Clerk reported having.received two bids, whereupon
Resolution #3754 C.S.
introduced by Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bobber-,
awarding the�con.tract,.to.Sylva & Ellis, they being the lowest responsible
'bidder., adopted by 6 affirmative. votes, .l absentee.
The Committee on electric traffic *signals reported progress.
-Garbage Disposal: „
The matter of the sanitary disposal of garbage was discussed and
Resolution #3755 C.S.
introduced by Councilman Faffell, ' by Councilman Van Bobber,
authori- zing the Mayor to enter into a contract with Edwin Carewe for
the di:aposal and reduction of garbage, adopted.by 6 affirmative votes,
1 absentee.
