READING OF THE JOURNAL: The m nu 'es o the last regular meeting of February 18th were read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS: The CMk reported the filing of Affidavits of Publication and Affidavits of Posting. The monthly reports of the Poundman, Wharfinger, Police Judge, Auditor and Treasurer were read and filed. The City Attorney submitted a written opinion relative to the -franchise of the.water company and the P , aci•fi,c,Gas & Electric Company. This was referred back to the ..City Attorney for further investigation. and for communication with the Pacific Gas & Electric Company: REPORTS OF STANDING COTRAITTEES The Finance Committee submitted its report, whereupon Resolution #3811 C.S. 1 introduced by Councilman Jes:s;en, seconded by Councilman Pendleton,directing the Auditor;to draw warrants on the various 'City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved'by the: Finance Gommittee, adopted by 7 affirmative votes PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS: Application from Foley & Burk for permi.s!sion to exhibit in Petaluma.be,tween Jun 10th and July 13th, read; filed and Resolution #3812 'C.S. ,int:roduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber, granting said application, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Resignation of A. L. Jewett as Police Officer of the City of Petaluma, read, filed and Resolution ##3813 C.S. introduced by Councilman Pendleton, seconded by Councilman Ingerson, accepting said resignation, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Application of A -. J. Aretz. f'or a position as police officer read and filed. Communication from the Mayor °s Office, San Francisco, California., California urging the co- operation of this city in requesting our.re,pr.esentatives in Gongress., etc. to put forth every effort to locate the Army Air Ease within 'the San Francisco Bay Metropolitan Area.,, read filed and on motion by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Riewerts, the matter was referred to Mayor Sales for action. INTRODUCTION 'OF ORDINANCES: Or_n_ance No. 352 C.S.. introduced by Councilman. Riewerts, seconded by Councilman Ingers -on, appropriating the sum of $1000.00 to pay the cost of the purchase ' an automobile for the use of the police department, was read.,, approved by the City Attorney and ordered posted. Ordinance No. 353 C.S. introduced by Councilman Jessen, seconded: by Councilman Van Bebber, appropriating the sum of $879.50 to pay the costs of installation for the electrical operation of the Washington Street Bridge, was read, approved by the City Attorney and ordered posted. ADOPTION OF ORDINANCES: Ordinance o. 350 C.S. introduced by Councilman Riewerts, seconded by Councilman Ingerson,, appropriating the sum of $2500..00 to pay the'c.ost of the re-installation of the fire alarm.syst,em.in the business section of the.City of Petaluma, came up regularly and was adopted by 7 affirmative 11 votes . Ordinance No. 3,51. C.S introduced b 'Councilman Pendleton, seconded by Councilman Rewerts, regulating traffic upon that certain alley between Main Street and Water Street at the westerly terminus of Western Avenue, came up regularly and was adopte•d.by 7 affirmative- votes. NEW BUSINESS: This being the time ;set for opening bids for the re= installation of the fire alarm system, the Clerk reported having . received two bids one from the Cline Electrical Works for the sum of 92797.40 and the other from Herman "Weber for the sum of $2473.80, whereupon Resolution #3814 C.S. introduce I d by Councilman Jessen, seconded by Councilman Pendleton, authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract with.Herman Weber, he being the lowest-responsib.le bidder, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Gasoline Contracts: On, motion by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Ri.ewert th °e Mayor was .authorized t10 enter into contracts with the Associated Oil Col and the.Shell Oil Company for the furnishing of gasoline to the City of Petaluma.. Res'ol:ut on #3815 C.S. introduced by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Gouncilman Van Beb.ber,. resolving that the Council of the City of Petaluma petition the Railroad Commission to refuse and deny the application: of the San Rafael Freight & Transfer Company for the removal of the restriction in weight of sixty pounds, adopted by 7:affirmative votes. The matter of the, right of way for the Olive Street sewer was discussed and the City Att orney directed to interview the property owners and offer-Mr. Roberts $185.00 for his right of way. Attorney Donahue addressed the Goiincil relative to an adjustment of fees for garbage collection. The Mayor appointed a committee consisting of the City Attorney,.
