Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called
to order by Mayor Sales <.
ROLL CALL,:
Councilmen present- Farrell, Ingerson, Jessen, Pendleton,
Riewerts, Van Bebber and Mayor Sales.
READING OF THE JOURNAL:
The minutes of 'the. last regular meeting of April lst were
read and approved as recorded.
REPORTS OF' CITY' OFFICIALS:
The City Attorney submitted written instructions as, to the
deposit of public moneys. Filed. On motion by Councilman Jensen,
seconded b y Councilman Riewerts, the matter was referred to the
City Treasurer and Finance Committee for action.and the City Clerk
was authorized to order the necessary set of printed forms

Petition containing 276.signatures protesting against the
posters and advertisements of women smoking and requesting the Council
to pass an ordinance forbidding such displays, was read and :referred

Petition `from property owners, of Linda Vista Subdivision,
asking relief in the matter of low water pres-sure, read and filed .
and on motion by Councilman Farrell, seconded by C =ouncilman Riewerts,
referred to the Mayor for investigati -on and conference with the
water company,.
Kentucky St. electroliers:
Petition from property owners on Kentucky Street, between
Washington and Western Avenue, asj�ing the Council 'to 'initiate pro -
ceedings for the construction and installation of . a street lighting
system, was read and filed. and on motion by Councilman Farrell,
seconded by Councilman Van Bebb a committee consisting of
Councilmen Farrell, Ingerson,. Pendleton and Van Bebber was appointed
to meet with the :Kentucky Street merchants and property owners and
bring in recommendations as to type and general specifications.
Communication the California Real Estate Association- read
and filed.
Communication from Hubert B. Scudder and Herbert W. Slater
regarding the appropriation for sewage disposal research work read
and filed.
Application from the California-Water Service . Comp_ any for
permission to open .cert•ain streets for the installation of new mains
read and filed, and

accepting agreement from Ray Cole and wif'o for sewer easement across
private property, adopted by '7 affirmative votes.
This being the time set for opening bids for the construction of
the Olive Street sewer,*the. Clerk reported having one bid, whereupon

introduced by Councilman Farrell., seconded by Councilman Jessen, accepting
the bid of J. B. .Silva for said- work., he being the lowest responsible
bidder, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.

acc:epting automobile from the Petaluma Nash .Company and directing
the,Auditor to draw warrant in payment thereof, adopted by 7 affirmative
votes.
Boulevard Stop - 6th & "D "' Sts.
The matter of , stop signs at 6th and "D" Streets, was di,s.cussed and
referred to the St reet 4ommit.tee and City Attorney for recommendation.
Armstrong wa.t,er bill
The Clerk reported the payment by Mr. Arm strong of $39.00 for
water used at Kenilworth 'Park. On motion by Councilman Farrell, seconded
by Councilman Van Be:bber., the matter was referred to Building and
Grounds committee.'
Resolution, #3835 C.S.
introduced'by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman Jessen, granting
a donat -ion of $75.00 to the United. Spanish [flear Veterans, to be used in
appropriate memorial day ceremonies, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
Garbage Ordinance:
Amendments'.t.o the garbage ordinances were discussed at length and
referred back, to the- committee and city attorney for further investigation.
