WORKSHOP A. Workshop to Discuss Wastewater Issues. (St. John) Vice Mayor Albertson City Manager Brown Vice Mayor Albertson opened Public Comment on Item I.A. Wayne Leach, representing Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, read a letter thanking the City and the Council for placing this item as a top priority on their list of goals. Ned Orrett, Petaluma, discussed economic solutions relating to the wastewater treatment plant. Ralph Sartori, Petaluma, discussed his involvement with, and solutions for, the wastewater treatment plant. Leon Sharyon, CFO, Lagunitas Brewing Company, applauded the Council for their efforts in placing the wastewater treatment plant as a priority and discussed the fee structure. Leon Sharyon, CFO, Lagunitas Brewing Company, discussed the challenges of costs for startup businesses in relation to the ideas discussed. Vice Mayor Albertson closed Public Comment on Item I.A. Council Member Harris Council Member Miller Vice Mayor Albertson Council consensus that they would like to staff to undertake, with assistance from one or more consultants, analysis of: a) The physical changes desirable at the Ellis Creek Water Recycling Facility to maximize efficiency and handle the HSW produced by food-processing industries. b) The potential for using waste to generate energy for sale, to power the plant, or the plant and other City facilities. c) Potential methods to compost or make organic use of waste product. d) Alternatives to City policies and rates that increase the City's attractiveness to food-processing industries without placing a burden on the City's residential and commercial customers. Current/potential food-processing industries should participate in this analysis. Council would like to receive periodic updates on this project. ADJOURN Motion: Adjourn the meeting. Moved by Gabe Kearney, seconded by Teresa Barrett.
