READING OF THE JOURNAL: The minutes -of t e last regular. meeting of June 17th and the adjourned meeting of June 22nd, were read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMI The Finance Committee submitted its report, whereupon Resolution #3869 C.S. introduced by Councilman Jessen, seconded by Councilman. Van Bebber, directing the Auditor todraw warrants on the various City Funds in payment of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted. by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. PETITIONS AND COMMUNICAT2ONS: Report of the City A torney regarding the application of the Pacific Gas & Electric Co. for a franchise and- regarding the deposit of public funds, read and filed. Resignations from S. Gonzalez, Fred S. Howell and A. S. Newburgh.and Edward T. Soberan.es, read and filed, whereupon Resolutions #3870, 3871. and..3.872 C,.S,, adc ott;tng said resignations, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, l absentee. introduced - by Councilman Farrell, seconded by Councilman `Riewerts, increasing the salary of the Chief Engineer of the Fire Department to the sum of $100.00, per month, effective July lst, 19,29, adopted by 6 affirmative votefs, 1 absentee. Communication from the Board of Fire Commissioners, recommend -' ing that the salary of the Chief Engineer of the Fire Department_. be raised, read and filed, and Reso'luti.on ,#3873 C.S. Resolution #3'874 C.S. introduced 'by Councilman. Farrell, seconded by Councilman Riewerts, increasing the salary of Traffic Officer'Lrake to the sum of $185.00 per month, effective July lst, 1929, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Resolution #3.875 C.S. introduced by Councilman Ingerson, seconded by Councilman Jessen, accepting the resignation of Councilman Farrell, adopted by 6 affirmative votes, 1 absentee. Resignation - Farrell The resignation of William J. Farrell was read and filed, whereupon ADJOURNMENT: A resolution was presented by Councilman Ingerson, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber :appointing Charles A. Pendleton a member of the Council of the City of Petaluma, which was read and discussed but the.hour of 12 o'clock A.M. having arrived, on motion by Councilman Jessen, seconded by Councilman Van Bebber the Council adjourned sine die. ROLL CALL: Councilmen present: Ingerson, McFadden, Miller, Riewerts, Van Bebber and Mayor Farrell. Resolution #3876 C.S. introduced by Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman McFadden, appointing Ludtivig Schluckeber a member of the City Council to fill the unexpired term of William <J. Farrell, adopted by 6 affirmative votes. ADJOURNMENT On motion by Councilman McFadden:,: seconded by Councilman Miller the meeting adjourned until 7:30 P.M. Bebber and Mayor Farrell. REPORTS OF CITY OFFICERS: The monthly reports of the Auditor and Treasurer; Poundman; Police Judge and City Wharfinger were read and filed. The annual report of the Library Trustees was read and filed. PETITIONS AND COMB- UNICAT ONS: Invitation from the iverrhore Rodeo Association to attend its Rodeo on July 5th; 6th. and 7th read and filed. Application from J. T. Coady for a building permit read and filed and Resolution #3877 C introduced by Councilman Ingerson; seconded by Councilman Riewerts, granting said application adopt.ediby 7-affirmative votes. City Council, adopted by 6 affirmative votes i Cromwell City Attorney Gonzalez City Engineer Adams - Fire Chief Resolution 3879 C.S. introduced by Councilman Riewerts; seconded by Councilman Miller, appointing Lewis H..Cromwell City;Attorney; 8. ,Gonzalez City Engineer and Robert S. Adams Fire Chief, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. Committees: The Mayor appointed the following committees: FINANCE: Miller me.Fadden,and Schluckebier STREET: Ingerson, Riewerts and Van Bebber PUBBIC BLDGS. & GROUNDS: Riewerts, - Miller and Schluckebier BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS: Schluckebier, McFadden_ and Ingerson LIGHT: :McFadden, Sehluckebie.r and Riewerts GARBAGE: Van Bebber and Ingerson. Screening - ball grounds The matter of screening the ball grounds at McNear Recreation Park was brought up by CouncilmaniRiewerts and referred to the Park Commission for action. A representative of the Pacific Gas & Electric Company appeared to address the Council on the subj of their application for a franchise but as some members of the Council were unfamiliar with the matter it was carried over until the next meeting of the Council.
