Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to order by Mayor Farrell ROLL CALL: Councilmen present: Ingerson, McFadden, Killer, Riewerts, Schluckeber, Van Bebber and Mayor Farrell READING OF THEE JOURNAL: The minut •o the last regular meeting of November 18th were read and approved as recorded. REPORTS OF OFFICERS: Me monthlyr eports of the City Wharfinger, Poundman, Police Judge, Auditor and Treasurer were read and filed.. REPORTS 'OF STANDING C "01TIi . The Commi ee subiinitted its report, whereupon Resolution. #39,11 C.S. introduced by Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman McFadden, directing the Auditor to draw warrants against the various City Funds in of claims allowed and approved by the Finance Committee, adopted by 7 affirmative votes. PETITIONS AND COI1 MTIC.ATIONS: CommunieTtion from the Petaluma Chamber of Commerce, inviting the City Council to participate in the Christmas Festival Parade, read., filed and accepted. Communication from the American Legion asking the Mayor to appoint a Cit'izen's Committee to take part in an active recruiting campaign to help Petaluma retain Company M, read and filed- The Mayor appointed C''ounclman Schluckebier as a member from the Council to serve on said committee. ADOPTION OF ORDINANCES: Or inance oIo. 3.67 C.S. introduced by Councilman McFadden, seconded by Councilman Miller, prohibiting the stopping of vehicles on "A" Street, between 4th and 5th Streets,, carne up regularly and was adopted by 7 affirmative votes. NE71 BUS INESS: �! ber payment on bridge contract: Resolution #5912 C.S. introduced by Councilman Van Bebber, seconded by Councilman Ingerson, directing the Auditor to draw a.warran.t on the General Fund in favor of H. Weber, for '$879.50, contract price for the electrical equip - ment of Washington Street bridge, adopted by 7 affirmative votes The Buildings and Grounds Committee were authorized. to purchase an electric heater for the Police Judge and a windmill for the Sewer Farm. The Street Committee was directed to bring in recommendations regarding the improvement of`Keokuk Street. The matter replacing obsolete traffic signs was discussed and the Superintendent of Streets was directed to proceed with the work as soon as possible. The request, of the Shell Oil Company for permission to erect signs on the curb was denied and a reported violation of the ordinance in this regard was referred to the Chief of Police for acti P. G. & E. franchise: This being the time set. for opening bids for the supplying of the City of Petaluma with gas, the Clerk reported having received a bid from the Pacific Gas & Electric and proceeded to open and read said bid which was in the amount of•'$100:80, whereupon Resolution #3913 C.S. introduced by Councilman Riewerts, seconded by Councilman Miller, accepting said bid and awarding the .franchi.se to the 'Pacific Gas 1 and Electric Company, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.. 227 1 In this connection a bond was submitted by -the Pacific Gas and Electric Company,approve_d by the City Attorney, whereupon Resolution ;3914 C.S. introduced by Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Riewerts, approving_ said bond, adopted by 7 affirmative votes and Ordinance' No. 368 C.S. introduced by Councilinan Schluckebier, seconded .by .Councilman - Riewerts, granting to the Pacific 'Gas and Electric Company the right, privilege and franchise of using any and all mains, pipes and conduits in the public highways, streets and alleys of the City of Petaluma for the purpose of Supplying said. City and its inhabitants with gas, was read, approved by the, City Attorney 'and ordered published. ADJOURNNENT: On motion regularly .made and carried the meeting adjourned.
