Regular meeting of the Council of the City of Petaluma called to
order by Mayor Farrell
ROLL CALL:
ouncilmen present: Ingerson., McFadden, Miller, Riewerts,
Schluckebier, Van Bebber and Mayor Farrell.
READING OF THE JOVR_NAL.:_
The minutes of , the last regular meeting of January 6th were
read and approved .as recorded.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:
The Finance Committee submitted its'report, whereupon
Resolution #3921 C.S.
introduced by Councilman. Miller, seconded by Councilman McFadden,
directing the Auditor to draw warrants against the various City Funds
in payment of claims allowed and approved. by the Finance Committee
and directing the transfer of $4248.76 from the River and Water Fund
to the Street Fund, adopted by 7 affirmative votes.
The Street Committee reported regarding the improvement of
Keokuk Street and were g ranted further time:.
PETIT_ IONS AND GOMYUNICATIONS
Communlca,lon from H. Gwinn inviting the members of the
City Council to a dinner to be held January 25th in celebration of the
new Kentucky Street Lighting System read and filed and on motion by
Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman Riewerts, the invitation was
accepted with thanks
Communication from C. A Pendleton soliciting a share of the
insurance business of the City of Petaluma was read and filed.
Petition .sighed by 39 property owners of North Main Street
requesting a thorough lighting system for North Main Street was read,
discussed and referred to the Lighting Committee.
.NEW BUSINESS:
The Clerk was directed to write to the owner or hessee of the
. property at the S.ZV:.corner of Liberty and Washington Streets and request
them to immediately replace the curbing on the Liberty Street frontage.
The Mayor reported having.attended the initial meeting of the
Mayors of the bay section which was held in San Francisco.
Mr. O'Conner addressed the Council- displaying a new directory
and set of maps which he has just completed, a set.of which he w.shess
to sell the - City of Petaluma. The matter was referred to the Finance
Committee.
The Superintendent of Streets reported that the city street
cleaning cans are, being used by individuals for the disposal of 'large
quantities of garbage. The matter was referred to the Chief of
Police.
.Councilman Van Bebber stated that Mr. J. A. Kenney had approached
him regarding the acceptance of hi.s pumping system for fire protection
for.lower Third Street., The Mayor advised that this should be brought
to the attention of the Board of Fire Commissioners for their consideration.
